YxYY (or Yes by Yes Yes) is a gathering of geeks, nerds, weirdos, creatives, futurists, thinkers, and yay-sayers held at the ACE Hotel in Palm Springs.

Although we couldn't attend this year, I wanted us to be present in some form and contribute to the community. Here's a little something something a little different from my usual Funk and Breaks affair; a grooving mix suitable for when you're in or next to the pool discussing how to change the world.

Joe recorded this at the Soulection HQ and made sure to incorporate the energy that was flowing through the room that day. Shouts to Eric Coleman, Andres, J-Louis, Mike Gao, and Colta who were all vibing out with us. Joe took it back to the essence and brought back the classic feel good joints as well as his current standouts from the past couple of weeks!

Following the massive response to REACH FOR ME (https://soundcloud.com/nacsmusic/no-artificial-colours-ft-alex-mills-reach-for-me/s-qwYwu) posted online last month, No Artificial Colours (who's name came from a can of fizzy pop - of course) reveal the first remix of the track from Nasser Baker.

The latest talent to emerge out of Dennis Ferrer's taste-making Objektivity camp, Nasser hails from New Jersey and purveys an immaculate East Coast sound - perfectly complimenting No Artificial Colours' raw, melodic take on house. This remix sees Nasser chopping and teasing the vocal by Alex Mills to deliver a classy, jacking take on the original. In short, its a JAM.

Late Night Workshop 10

I had the pleasure of playing to the always beautiful sunsets on Koh Lanta, an island in Thailand at the Pangea Beach Bar. This was a great opportunity to put together a set of a lot of the chiller tracks I've been collecting over the last year or so.

This 2h30m set is a journey with the sun, starting off chill and, after the sun sets and the lights come on, a little bit more of a dance vibe with many throwbacks.

Thanks to Alex and @pangea-beach-bar-ko-lanta for having me play. If you're in Koh Lanta, check them ot for sunsets and for their Tuesday night parties where they bring in DJs from all over the world for a night of tech house and dancing.

Made up of Frank Cueto and Rusty Belicek, the All Good Funk Alliance has opened up for James Brown, DJ'd all around the world, written songs for commercials, T.V. and movies, and have appeared on the Breakspoll Top 50 list and was included in The Little Big Beat book,. In other words, these guys are no strangers to the funk. And while their musical tastes range the gamut, when Frank and Rusty join forces the end result is always the same: they deliver a sound that is funky, fun and fresh.
