As per the updated Junto FAQ, i include this statement on compositional approach
	My capacity for enjoying ambient mixes has been severely harmed by the three Juntos to date, which have been chock full of depressingly good ambiance to the tune of several hours' worth, so the only a priori goal i set myself in attacking this one was that it be hard, loud and dirty.
	no, wait. fast, hard and dirty.
	
	but then i fell in love with this loop i made (completely by hand in audacity! no SuperCollider!) by streching all the samples to the same length, condensing the result to 6.6 seconds (i don't know why anymore), appending a reverse copy, and downpitching an octave.
	So the return to my heavy metal days will have to wait for a future Junto.
	
	
	


Nearly There (Disquiet0004-mfischer nearly n4tural condensed milk Remix)

I've been involved with Bound Off, a literary review/podcast of short stories read aloud - usually by the authors.  We've produced 79 monthly episodes in a row at http://www.boundoff.com - I do all the audio mixing and provide the background music.  While we've never had a "theme song" or jingle, I try to use music that works as "background music" while the host introduces the program and stories, and provides information about the authors.

This junto was a real challenge.  That jingle for The Radius is pretty far out there.  What do I do?  Well, I figured I'd do the same thing as I do at Boundoff.  I'd create something that a host or presenter can talk over.  But I had to create it out of that peaked-out, fuzzy noise.  I got to work carving out a few sounds, drenching them in effects, trying out different parts of the audio editing programs I use.  Multi-track it.  Mix it.  Find something that sounds good.  Render...  

And here it is:  Industance.  

It's a bed of processed noise for a host to talk over.

This is a shared-sample project. The sample is the opening jingle (or "sound logo") for the excellent Chicago-based series called Radius. The series is broadcast in Chicago at 88.9 FM. Its jingle is titled "Radius loop."
 
You will make an original piece of music in which the sample will serve as your sole sound source. Your track will open with the jingle/logo running in full. As it comes to a close, you will segue into an original piece of music built from a transformation of that jingle/logo. You can transform this source audio as you please, but you cannot include any additional sounds.

three instances of a remapped combination of this selection with itself are stagger offset in the timeline and combined. two of the staggered instances use Monolake's circular dopplar effect with different radii and timings. the outro adds a reversed instance of the original sample

Background: The Radius show's goal is "to support work that engages the tonal and public spaces of the electromagnetic spectrum." The goal of this Disquiet Junto project is to explore the idea of a radio show's theme song, its jingle/logo; we'll do this by imagining that the jingle/logo is in fact the subject of such a show's entire content, rather than simply its opening introduction.

Disquiet Junto Project 0050: -…….–.-..-…-
This week’s project explores Morse Code for its rhythmic content. The instructions are as follows: Select a word or phrase. Encode that word or phrase by the Morse method. Record a rhythmic foundation in which the dash is represented by a long beat and the dot by a brief one. Use that rhythmic foundation as a loop for the length of your track, at the speed you desire — speed can vary over the length of the recording. Record accompanying drone/melodic material that takes the underlying rhythm as its compositional foundation.
