Randomly came across an instrumental of one of favorite posthumous 2Pac releases recently. It instantly transported me back to my high school days when I would make mixes for my commute to and from school. As I sat and reminisced I figured i'd drop the instrumental into ableton and have a sing over it. That sing slowly transformed into a rough song of sorts that I thought I'd share with you guys today. Regular VT heads will have already noticed we’ve been big fans of Body/Head, the annilihatory guitar rock/haunting vocal duo of Kim Gordon and Bill Nace, since the first time we heard them on the fantastic Fever compilation on Ultra Eczema. We were immediately hungry for more and their subsequent releases on Ultra Eczema, Feeding Tube Records (a collaboration with one of our other favourite projects, Michael Morley of The Dead C’s Gate) and on Nace’s own Open Mouth imprint have consistently blown us away. To satisfy our need for more Body/Head the group have graciously shared a couple of unreleased tracks that “may or may not” appear on a future release and even then they might not appear in this form. These tracks continue the string-burn and F/X-saturated vocal style we love. We always dreamed of a Rudolph Grey/Amy Sheffer duo but Kim & Bill have exceeded our expectations w/their continuing phenomenal form. Crank up the heat! Since its inception, Alligator has always kept a close eye both on new artists and new technologies. In the 1970s, the company produced LPs, cassettes and 8-track tapes.
