Following on from the launch of Issue 2 of the magazine... we're so excited to bring you the first ever episode of the Greater Govanhill show. 

It will be broadcast on new local community radio station, Radio Buena Vida, from 1-2pm on Wednesday 31st March. 

Once again, it's been an incredible community effort in pulling it together, with so many different people bringing their skills, experience, ideas and enthusiasm.

Kleingeld is a resident at Radio Tempo Não Pára where her mixes are crafted with rich, emotive narrative. Together with Cardboard Lamb, she curates a monthly series of experimental radio broadcasts, inviting artists from a variety of disciplines to join the programme in an exercise of inquisitive world-building.

Kleingeld tenderly portrays the chaotic emotions that erupt amongst the turbulence of life. Her Somewhere mix is a tale of lost love, confronting the stormy experience of heartbreak and longing. In fluctuating highs and lows, she captures the delirium of escalating change. In Sanneke's words, "it's about spiraling into depths, checking in with the void and checking out with the past"

This limited Psychedelic Meltdown cassette release is linked to an event series of the same name curated by The Slow Brown Fox, taking place at Sameheads in Berlin. As stated by its name, the series aims to mind-bend the audience through trippy and unexpected music, freely flowing between electronica and sounds from the beyond.

This first showcase presents a double mixtape released via Sameheads being the manifestation of the magic experienced on the inaugural night of January 6, 2024 featuring Loma Doom, Akvilina, Lizzie Urquhart and The Slow Brown Fox.

Melbourne-based DJ Plead is one of the newest members of Nervous Horizon, the label co-founded by TSVI - an Italian artist living in UK. Both artists explore rhythmic traditions from around the world, with a special focus on Lebanese wedding and pop music (Plead) and Sufi practices (TSVI). They played b2b for the first time at Unsound 2019 in Kraków, exploring the breadth of percussive music in front of a tightly packed Kitchen at Hotel Forum. Here's a recording of that set, filled to the brim with some of the freshest tunes in club music right now.

Her name is in of itself a cycle and so I breathe. Breathe life into my ecosystem through song, through dance, through ritual.

I embed my emotional landscapes into stories of mythology that resonate. This creates a space which is fictioned, a fragile world of scattered fragments, the remnants embedded into myths. A layering of organic dust particles settling into rock formations.

*Skin into landscape, mind into myth*

To resonate with female icons is to create a free fall. With the fall, the emotional material becomes free to connect with other stories, extending the thread of their life. This creates an immersive deep time state, a ‘worlding’ experience I can nest inside. My fragmented methodology connects the voice to the electronic. Using looping technologies, durational performance and movement, my process reflects my experiences of disorientation in time. What was once linear has now become cyclical, even magical.

*The whites of your eyes echo future songs*

Phenomena in sound are mirrored with the icons I explore. Currently I’m exploring the character of Echo, mirroring the emotional sound phenomena by playing with organic and electronic vessels to create this.

*I’ll only echo and dance among the ruins*

Vocals reverberate and resonate into the ether, incanting the body to a place beyond what we can control or categorise. I operate in the space of ...

DJ/Selector

As a selector I am drawn to anything from brazillain jazz, bollywood, afrobeats, broken beats. If the record has a soul turntables give it another life, ecclectic but dogmatic in crafting specific soundscapes, I curate
DJ sets that weave together euphoric breaks, polyphonic drum patterns, reverberating vocals interwoven with slamming techno- the choral juxtaposed with contemporary electronic explorations. This journey through sound creates a trance-like state exlporing feminine ascending frequencies to entrance and pull you deep into the night.
