This are the collaborations I made with Alan Hamilton over the last years. It's a great thing that happens through SC, to meet such wonderful musicians and human beings.
We are together - from time to time - Louis Taverna, John Hamilton, Andy Grossart, Tony Conway. The music is mainly Alan's, and I added the Woodwind arrangements and playing, mainly soprano, baritone and tenor saxes, but here and there flute, alto flute, clarinet and bass clarinet.

'Imagination Becomes Reality' A Jazz Fusion Track inspired by how the title reads really. If we can imagine something then it can become real. The important question is, What is imagination and what is reality? Are they both "real"?  An age old question, which can only be answered by an inner search.
The piece is shared with the " very real and very imaginative" playing of Wind Master, Georg Boehme, whom I can't thank enough for being involved with me on this musical journey.

Compassionate scale.
Each impulse results in a force. The more momentum we take, the higher we jump. When there is a misfortune, an impulse of greater or lesser strength is generated. Here is a personal scale of that compassionate strength.
Cs0 Compassion predisposed asleep We are not aware of the existence of a misfortune. There is no force.
Cs1 Instant Compassion. We have seen it on a newspaper page and we have turned the page. It has caught our attention.
Cs2 Indirect compassion. Donations to charities. A person assaults you in the street and asks you, do you want to be human? And you say how much money you do it for. It is instant, but voluntary.
Cs3 Daily Compassion The news of the day. Floods, wars, social injustices. Your ideals come to light. To each one by his side and based on close experiences with said news.
Cs4 Compassion live. You are present when a misfortune occurs, but it is not with you. A violent situation that left a big impression on you.
Cs5 Compassion known. Here we begin to exceed the limits. A friend tells us about the misfortune of his mother. We offer our humanity.
Cs6 Voluntary compassion. You are a volunteer. You offer hours of your life to others many times without knowing them.
Cs7 Compassion target. The bomb explodes in your house, in your family or in your friends. You do everything you can to help.
Cs8 Self-pity. Misfortune concerns you directly. Prevent you from drowning. It can be extraordinary and lead to overcoming or useless if you no longer believe in it.
Cs9 Total compassion. It is when you give yourself to others putting your life at stake. I am not talking about a soldier, I am talking about a missionary in Haiti who does not leave, even if they tell her to leave.

COMPASSIONATE STRENGTH 3

Driving by a cupcake shop after hours, I witnessed a horde of rats devouring a stack of cupcakes left out in their trash. I said, "Cupcake Rats...that sounds like a pop punk band!" And, with an assist on lyrics from my brah Roger Vaughn...on the vocals from an incredible StudioPros vocalist...and on the mix from our buddy Peter Pope...a delightfully silly confection was born. I'm playing all instruments, and cut the drum loops.

What an honor to add my acoustic guitars to this collaboration with ace electric guitarist, keyboardist, and producer Seagull, Soundcloud's Poet Laurette Peter, Soundcloud's Poet of the piano, Debra Buesking, and vocalists Clara, and Snowflake.  With this visionary and epic trilogy, we explore the human condition and the choices we must make that will determine our destiny as a race.  It is a longer work but a rewarding listen if taken as a whole, but can still be appreciated in smaller bites if time doesn't allow a nearly 16 minute commitment.  The first segment is "Lost" until 4:55, "Lament is from 4:56-10:14, and "Ghost of a Dragon" until the end.

Composition is shared with Georg Boehme, whilst Georg's wind arrangements are simply mind blowing as is his soloing on this track. So then once again I have had the exceptionally good fortune of sharing another musical journey with this extraordinary player, arranger and composer.

Now retired from a life 'on the road' as a freelance keyboard player, I compose and record in my home studio, situated in the Carrick Hills in Southern Scotland. My music is mainly instrumental in nature and is a reflection of my life experience, sometimes real and sometimes imagined.
My influences are many and I have quite probably been shaped by listening to the very many "giants" of music, both players and composers. From classical to contemporary jazz and everything in between. My main instrument is the keyboard, whether that be piano, organ or synth. But I also play banjo, flute and percussion. I have a special relationship'with bass, whether upright or electric and use virtual and synth basses from numerous sources, but mainly Trilian by Spectrasonics.
