An early Christmas present in my stocking!
Recently I awoke to a SC link in my mailbox.  What is this??!! To my utter delight, Oddrun, Arne & Peter surprised me with this wonderful musical gift.  The original piano track was to be a "someday" project between Oddrun and me, but this is triple the fun!  Thank you Oddrun, Arne and Peter not only for remodeling my orphan track, but more importantly for this wonderful gift of friendship.

Inspired by the gritstone 'Dark Peak' millstones left abandoned in the 1800s. Over 1,000 of these 2-3 ton stones were left behind when modern methods made them obsolete. Nowadays the quarry sites by gritstone 'edges' are favoured by walkers enjoying the open countryside, which for centuries witnessed the immense effort of cutting, shaping and hauling these massive loads.

I've called it Alternative Fusion and it was inspired by just how quickly your day can change from enjoying the moment to utter chaos and pain. Accidents happen often when one loses focus and takes life for granted. For example: when washing the dishes, whilst thinking of something else and breaking a glass, and when picking up the broken pieces, cutting one's finger and can't get the blood to stop poring out. Drawing Out those amongst us who are prepared to say no, when no is required. To stand against totalitarian governments, quangos. ngos's and any other arms of oppression.
So this is what has inspired this piece.

Songster version was a little ‘copla’ about not being able to be with, nor without, a loved person.  As usual, I’ve ‘upgraded’ it, process from which you only get the final result, normally. 

But, following lyrics’ contradictions, I not only serve parts with different levels of (dis)order in heavy rock - flamenco sauce, but raw vs very cooked parts as well, starting with the improvised phone recording of the very first idea I had to develop the song, so please excuse my failures and noises.

Now retired from a life 'on the road' as a freelance keyboard player, I compose and record in my home studio, situated in the Carrick Hills in Southern Scotland. My music is mainly instrumental in nature and is a reflection of my life experience, sometimes real and sometimes imagined.
My influences are many and I have quite probably been shaped by listening to the very many "giants" of music, both players and composers. From classical to contemporary jazz and everything in between. My main instrument is the keyboard, whether that be piano, organ or synth. But I also play banjo, flute and percussion. I have a special relationship'with bass, whether upright or electric and use virtual and synth basses from numerous sources, but mainly Trilian by Spectrasonics.
