*Davydd Benvrass was a Court Bard for the Kingdom of Gwynedd, including the period of Prince Llewelyn ap Iorwerth's reign (Llewelyn the Great), which accounts for the jingoistic nature of the text. This poem is one of a number of Benvrass' works celebrating Llewelyn's victories in battle with King John of England. 

Creator of that glorious light,
Which sheds around his vivid rays,
And the pale moon which rules the night,
O deign to animate my lays!
O, may my verse like Merddin's flow!
And with poetic visions glow.
Great Aneurin, string my lyre,
Grant a portion of thy fire!

Painting: The Inume Pass in Kai Province from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji 
Katsushika Hokusa.(1760 –1849), known simply as Hokusai, was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, active as a painter and printmaker. He is best known for the woodblock print series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, which includes the iconic print The Great Wave of Kanagawa,  In addition to his woodblock ukiyo-e prints, Hokusai worked in a variety of mediums including painting and book illustration. Starting as a young child, he continued working and improving his style until his death, at 88. In a long and successful career, Hokusai produced over 30,000 paintings, sketches, woodblock prints, and images for picture books in total. Innovative in his compositions and exceptional in his drawing technique, Hokusai is considered one of the greatest masters in the history of art.  At the age of seventy-five Hokusai defiantly referred to himself as ‘the old man mad about painting” as he railed against his mortality by declaring that he would live past 100 years and in so doing, achieve artistic immortality. “From the age of six I had a penchant for copying the forms of things, and from about fifty, my pictures were frequently published; but until the age of seventy, nothing that I drew was worthy of notice. At seventy-three years, I was somewhat able to fathom the growth of plants and trees, and the structure of birds, animals, insects, and fish. Thus when I reach eighty years, I hope to have made increasing progress, and at ninety to see further into the underlying principles of things, so that at one hundred years I will have achieved a divine state in my art, and at one hundred and ten, every dot and every stroke will be as though alive.” Told by Gakyo Rojin Manji (Old Man Mad About Painting).

 This is a song that Josh wrote on the piano during JJ's hiatus back in August. He got Ken to play the drums, very competently, as always. After Josh had a solid beat, he added the bass. Then he asked Stephen to play some sitar, and add his magic to the brew. Then, we asked MD to come up with some vocals, which he did in his very original, unique style. Finally, after MD had added his vocals, Tez put on the finishing touches with his flaming guitar. Tez also mixed and produced this one for us, expertly. 

 Josh didn't know what to do with this one because Steve gave it a shot, but we couldn't get the idea to gel together. We thought it would be relegated to the shelf, until Miller agreed to give it a whirl. If you're not a lyric reader, I suggest you start with his songs, mainly on his page, but here, as well. However, we did keep Steve's intro vocals, which you hear at the very beginning. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we did making it.

All Hit No Miss - The Eclectic Collective

So this song takes the idea of home and expands it outward beyond conventional ideological boundaries of what a home might be. Some of this may sound odd, in the sense of 4 walls, a floor, and a roof as home. So where might our home be? Out beyond our neighborhood perhaps, the region where we live, the continent we’re on, maybe our planet, or somewhere in the cosmos? If we settle on a suitable idea that is somewhat believable for us, it may be that our ‘home’ is, at the very least, the planet we live on. Our home planet. So wherever we go on Earth, we are home, as the song suggests. Please bear with me on this, as it may get a bit allegorical: I like that idea of this larger sense of home, as we might not dump trash, sewage, and all sorts of toxins inside our home, or pollute our home in other ways. We may begin to see what a large, incredible family we have at home. Don’t ya think? It may allow us to get along with each other a little better than we have been? (As an example, you should see me with me with my family at times, it can be frustrating… hee-hee.) We probably wouldn’t set off/drop so many bombs and blast the crap out of our home like we do now, if we saw the Earth as our home. Or ignorantly flood or burn down our home, in our stubborn refusal to appreciate the reality of what it takes to maintain a home like Earth. If we come back to the idea of a conventional home, well there’s all sorts of problems with that too. Here are some of them. Some of us have homes, some of us don’t. There are many reasons for that. Some of us have lost our homes. Some of us do not like our homes, some of us never leave our homes. Some of us despise each other for not having homes, or having too many homes, or having too large of a home, etc…. Where do we feel at home these days with the state of homeability or lack there of? My conventional home, allows me to live here, be that wherever it may be for any of us. Anyway, this song also gave me the opportunity to dust off my mandolin and recorder, as they pretty much sat there all summer with long faces wondering what I was up to. So now they’re happy and I hope this song shares some of their happiness with you….. m

  This song began with a request to me made by Karin-Maria about contributing an original song as a collaboration for her new jazz album called Jazztastic. After fleshing out a song on the piano, I had to get my right-hand man Ken involved to add the drums, because of course I did. 
  After we had worked it out on bass, piano, and drums, we sent it to Karin-Maria, who added the sax solo. She had it professionally mixed and mastered, primarily because the album is now available to stream on all the major platforms. So, please give the whole thing a listen. It has a bunch of collaborators on it, many of whom you will probably recognize.

Now retired from a life 'on the road' as a freelance keyboard player, I compose and record in my home studio, situated in the Carrick Hills in Southern Scotland. My music is mainly instrumental in nature and is a reflection of my life experience, sometimes real and sometimes imagined.
My influences are many and I have quite probably been shaped by listening to the very many "giants" of music, both players and composers. From classical to contemporary jazz and everything in between. My main instrument is the keyboard, whether that be piano, organ or synth. But I also play banjo, flute and percussion. I have a special relationship'with bass, whether upright or electric and use virtual and synth basses from numerous sources, but mainly Trilian by Spectrasonics.
