Beautiful tribute to a people that deserved better. This is the first I had heard of it, but being in the States such a thing might escape our notice--we have enough sins of our own. The music has a lovely, redeeming quality to it.

What a wonderful piece Alan.  Growing up in Brixton in the 70's, my life was greatly enriched by the West Indian communities I was part of or lived alongside.  It was so shameful to hear that some of this generation where threatened with deportation after all they had done for Britian, and put up with over the years.  Your music honors them!

'Windrush' An intended soundtrack for a yet to be made documentary on the Imigration, (which was often "forced" or "coerced") by the British govenment of the mainly Jamaican population over to England after the 2nd world war in 1948.
The HMT Empire Windrush was the ship used to carry these 1027 West Indians, who were later housed in often abominable conditions, including unused underground stations. They were sent out to service type jobs for a pittance in pay and more or less used as "slave" labour.
This is my tribute to these extremely proud people, many of whom I have met over the years, whilst living in London. All of them I remember with fondness.

Now retired from a life 'on the road' as a freelance keyboard player, I compose and record in my home studio, situated in the Carrick Hills in Southern Scotland. My music is mainly instrumental in nature and is a reflection of my life experience, sometimes real and sometimes imagined.
My influences are many and I have quite probably been shaped by listening to the very many "giants" of music, both players and composers. From classical to contemporary jazz and everything in between. My main instrument is the keyboard, whether that be piano, organ or synth. But I also play banjo, flute and percussion. I have a special relationship'with bass, whether upright or electric and use virtual and synth basses from numerous sources, but mainly Trilian by Spectrasonics.
