𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝘿𝙅𝙞𝙣𝙜?
I dabbled once in a blue moon. nothing serious. Mainly at afters on my friend’s CDJ-1000s. The first mix I recorded for someone was for the Don’t Trust Human’s Only for Robots series. I received a reaction I was not expecting. This is what pushed me down the road of production. 
 
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨?
Too many to name. My record collection varies from 3am peak time electro, to deep house, to hip hop, to smooth harmonica bangers... etc. I have never understood genres. My music tastes are “yes” and “no”. I will give a shout out to Sassmouth (Sam Kern, Chicago) and Loren (Lauren Vellucci, Detroit). It was the first time I saw them spin that had me pulling my hair out to the point of inspiration. I will always remember that evening (and morning lol). Their set made something click musically for me.
 
𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙮?
My dream DIY project is a place where everyone can reset. Whatever that is. Maybe it’s sunrise yoga before hitting up the smoothie bar. Coming for mimosas/brunch and ordering something off the grill outside, all dietary restrictions being met. Now, we dance to house sets while people paint on canvas, sell their jewelry, meet, pick each other’s brains. Collab. At night there would be two rooms. One is for proper get down raving. The other is an ambient room, maybe covered in shag. There are futons and pillows. Take a nap. Chill out. Recharge. Get a snack at the snack bar or a free massage from the masseuse that is there. Yes it is the music but it can be so much more. Bring as many art forms together as possible. Water each other; grow. 
 
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 (𝙤𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨) 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙚?
Pardon my language, but less of a circle jerk of people booking each other. There is a lot of talent outside of chicago, in it even, that chicago does not know they want to hear. 
 
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛?
Nothing. We all sometimes ponder this question. There are things we would like to change about the past but at the same time if I changed my past I cannot  say with certainty that I would be right here right now, and I like me now.

It's hard to believe it's been over a year since the last secondnature party in Seattle. It feels simultaneously as if it's been many years, and no time at all. Lost in the fog of pandemic timelessness, it's easy to forget that it was once normal for us to commune in sweaty togetherness in dark basements and fogged out nightclubs. 

The second volume of our secondnature & friends series brings together contributions from some of our close friends and collaborators who we weren't able to host on the first go around. We've shared dance floors and DJ booths with all of them, and if we can't be together IRL, we're happy we can at least be together URL. This compilation is a statement of intent that we will see and share space with each other, and with all of you, again soon. Stay safe and healthy!

For April, we're stoked to welcome in the highly talented not even noticed.

They first gave us a taste of their style with their track 'Refractive' which came out on our compilation In the Key of G last year. 

Second, they have constructed a set of six heavyweight tunes for their debut EP Muted Noises, with old skool nods, a range of moody atmospheric tracks, some hard as nails, others more ambient and reflective.

And so, thirdly, they have provided us a mix of the utmost quality. Brimming with beats, 140 bpm jungle and breaks, acidy drizzle, bass heavy cuts including some of the tracks from the EP, and opening with a little something else from them. 

Stick around at the end for some extra fire forthcoming on Gated or out already and there to get stuck into.
