Juntos (Spanish for together), the debut album from ALUNA, is a testament to a new paradigm of music. It is a collaborative project through and through. Pulling from the indigenous traditions and fusing their experiences with the sounds of the moment, ALUNA has landed something timeless. Steffen Ki and Maywa have joined forces with some of their favorite musicians, bringing us a masterfully crafted collection of music that expands beyond borders, cultures, and genres.

Much of the influence for this album comes from Maywa’s time spent living in the rainforests of South America and Steffen Ki’s own journey into nature through his travels around the world. ALUNA was born out of a love affair between these two beautiful beings and so it is fitting that they extended their embrace to some of their closest friends and producers in the creation of this collaborative work.

All the songs from this album are derived from music written by Maywa. Just one song, Agua de Flores, is an adaptation of a traditional ceremony song. Maywa’s voice is the common thread weaving all 8 tracks together into a seamless story of love, peace, and connection to nature.

The first seeds of this album were planted 2 years ago, exactly the time of the first vision of this label Resueño. It is with great joy that the album and the label circle back around to meet each other once again. The beauty that manifests when we come together to support each other and to create as a family is also a testament to the new paradigm which is upon us. This is a call to come together, Juntos.

Eclipse, a co-creation with Joaquín Cornejo, was born from elements that Joaquín sent us combined with a recording of my voice channeled the night of an eclipse in 2018. Step by step, as in a dream, Steffen finished producing in this moment with the magic of the night.

Lunaqua, a co-creation with Di Laif, is a composition I made with the voice and the Sansula in Guatemala on the shores of Lake Atitlan. It was a magical night, connecting with the voices of the lake. We then had the opportunity to produce much of this track live with Di Laif in Guatemala.

Yaku Wayra, a co-creation with Rodrigo Gallardo, is also an original song of mine in the Quechua language. Yaku Wayra means wind of water. It is inspired by a special sound in the jungle which arises before the rain comes, a wind that comes to warn of what is to come. Then Rodrigo made his magic with his sounds and instruments.

ALUNA & Derrok - Corazones De Fuego

Ininti, a co-creation with Intiche, comes from an icaro that I have created in the indigenous language Shipibo conibo. It is one of the icaros that I have created in this language after living 2 years in the jungle in Peru. Ininti means Perfume. The icaro was recorded and produced with Steffen as the alchemist using elements that Intiche sent us.

ALUNA & INTICHE - Ininti

Agua de Flores, a co-creation with Mose, is the only song I have not created, it is a personal adaptation of a ceremony song called Agua de Flores that I sang while living in Mexico between the sea and the deep water of a cenote. The vocals were recorded together with Mose in Berlin and was produced by him with elements given to him by Steffen.

<<>>ALUNA<<>>  is a co-creation project of two artists who share the same vision and complement each other in their creations. Steffen Ki @steffenkirchhoff and Maywa @maywa create organic downtempo and ambient music that is inspired by ancient mystic teachings, shamanic rituals and the connection to nature.

Their sound is magical, alive and organic. tribal and emotional , warm and gentle, healing and powerful, soulful and heartopening. Like medicine, deeply connected to ancestral roots, reflecting the voice of Earth.

In fact, their music project finds its origin in the Columbian forests where these beautiful souls first met, as soloist artists. The word ALUNA also descends from the natives of that land. Among the Kogi people, Aluna represents the "cosmic mind" the mysterious realm from which all life is being dreamt and sung into exsistence.
