Raised in the Moroccan city of Meknes and currently based in Casablanca, 3xOJ is a producer and DJ who folds decolonial North African concepts into genre-bending contemporary bass music. Following his fascinating 2019 debut EP 'sneper.exe' and a slew of collaborations with Sam Fan Thomas , TAIJI SCIN and others, 3xOJ returns with "Stork", a molten fusion of collapsing beats, urgent sociopolitical rap and the omnipresent ghosts North African folk styles.

The title track is a collaboration with Casablanca's Nabil Enmiri, aka Al Nasser, a rapper who has been mapping out the country's systemic oppression since 2004. On 'Stork' he snarls over 3xOJ's eerie cyberpunk minimalism, adding a poetic foundation to the duo's music that links decades of Moroccan musical culture. The EP is an ode to the power of lyricism, dedicated to legendary Algerian raï singer Cheb Hasni.

The EP also comes with a garbled, ass-shaking rework of the title track and 3xOJ instrumental production 'Amikiri' by Hakuna Kulala regular Don Zilla.

There is an immersion in an intimate universe of a liturgy where a language isn't understood in its total form, but we allow ourselves to experience it in order to feel, to be guided. This EP sprouts a language that comes from an inverse sense - it invades our interior and flourishes between our skin and organs. There is a sense of unease, the boundary between dark and light is very thin, making us wonder if the definition of barrier or limit really exists or it isn't all a single liquid that extends since our birth to our death, a thread that wraps us around our body, whispers, screams, moans and touches us, passively stirring the blood, making it warm. Ignora by MA'AM is the 16º release of ZABRA. With this release we extend ourselves to a deeper universe of the voices and the meaning of the word in order to challenge the language and its deconstruction process.

@ma3azef has teamed up with mastering engineer Heba Kadry to curate a compilation of new and unreleased materials provided by regional and international musicians to raise funds for the continuous relief work being done on the ground in Beirut to help those who have been failed by the state. 

The 17-track compilation includes contributions by @tho-om, @fatima-al-qadiri, @nicolas-jaar, @zulimusic, @freddymn, @sssarahhharasss, @deenaabdelwahed, @ayametwalli, @thisisismael and more. 

All proceeds from sales of the compilation go to local initiatives providing assistance to those affected, divided between Fundraising Campaign for the Arts and Culture Community in Beirut organised by AFAC; Beirut Musicians' Fund organised by Tunefork Studios, and Beit el Baraka.

Thoom is a Lebanese singer-songwriter. Her unexpected melodies set to edgy, electronic dissonance fuse with minimal, age-old arrangements like a guitar and a voice. Sometimes screaming, sometimes whispering, Thoom is a storyteller, often singing about fantasies of love, morality, and human nature. Following two years of live performance and experimentation, Thoom just released her 9-track debut album, Pork.

Scavenging sounds from online and on-site detritus, citizen media, and militarised ads and technologies, Jessika Khazrik’s sonic scapes intimately investigate the techno-political premises of the military economies we inhabit or forget. 

Often born out of vocoded collaborations with recurrent neural networks skewed with hard-edged Arabic rhythms, Khazrik festively uses spaces of congregation—such as clubs, museums, her house, quarries, and the internet—to search for new, locally entrenched universalities that could collectively respond to the dystopias of our current time. 

Khazrik's interdisciplinary practice as artist, writer, technologist and DJ ranges from composition to machine learning, performance, visual art, ecotoxicology and history of science and music. She also composes the score of the GEOCINEMA project and often collaborates with artists and labels on album art and text. She has performed at CTM Festival, Ballroom Blitz, ALL, Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, Silent Green, Les Urbaines, HKW, Theater Der Welt, quarries, her house, secrets, among others. 

Khazrik often collaboratively works under the name of 'نادي شهود الزور / The Society of False Witnesses' and is currently the editor of the International Solidarity page at the 17teshreen monthly publication.

Okay Vivian’s first full-length album Saye reveals a sound that has been frozen inside her: The music she heard on the Turkish radio as a child, on car rides, at weddings... And what remains, still echoing in her head, is particularly the heart-wrenching singing and the haunting bendir drums. She lets the ice melt into the current, and flow onto the surface, trying to capture the loneliness and gloom of a suspended memory.

She designed the soundscapes, emotions intertwined with imagined scents, to create a multidimensional space for her music to slowly breathe in. Imagine the smell of a ghost, the smell of hiding, of forgetting with a heavy heart; a silvery glow, moss, a damp, ice cold air, with dirt, crushed herbs, & honey; the smoking scent of snowdrops, barely there, crushed & burnt, dusty, yet still alive.

Premiere: Okay Vivian - Whisper Like Ice [IA]

Amplify Berlin is a residency program that provides emerging Berlin-based musicians with guidance, a focused work environment and access to resources in the form of month-long artist residencies driven by a mentorship approach to creative development.

Artists are invited to apply via an online open call process (occurring twice yearly) wherein they select which mentors they want to work with. The mentors then select from those applicants. During each one-month residency period, two selected artists receive feedback and advice from their mentor, are given access to a music studio with a range of equipment and software and are able to develop their live set in the ACUD Club’s concert space (both with the support of a technician). They are required to complete at least one track to be
shared online, contribute to a monthly radio show on Reboot.FM and at the end of the residency, they perform at a showcase event at ACUD Club, on a lineup alongside their mentor.

Caterina Barbieri, Laurel Halo, Lucrecia Dalt, Robert Lippok, Ziúr, Born In Flamez, Ville Haimala of Amnesia Scanner, Andi Toma of Mouse on Mars, Drew McDowall of Coil/Psychic TV, Max Boss of Easter, Pan Daijing, Farao, Black Cracker, Sasha Perera, Andrea Belfi, Rabih Beaini.

Presented by ACUD Macht Neu, this program has been co-financed by the Europäischer Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) and Musicboard Berlin until 2021.
