Broadcast by Radio Miami International WRMI and Radiophrenia Glasgow 2016 

Shortwave radio interval signals—repeated short bursts of melody or other sounds—are broadcast regularly to identify stations, hold down frequencies, time the start and stop of programs, help listeners tune their receivers to distant transmitters, and send political messages across borders. In conflict zones, both official state-sponsored and clandestine broadcasts can at times be heard. Some of the interval signals in this mix are echoes from the occupied territories and liberation fronts of past wars. In a sea of static, the shortwave listener tunes in repeating signals, wandering frequencies and cascading feedback loops calling out in the darkness.
