There’s a body of water in the woods near Carrboro. Dappled light on the trail leads you to it. Crunch of leaves underfoot. A river feeds the swimming hole where people plunge, naked and alive. On a chair you sit reminiscing about the future. After a dip, you lay on a big smooth rock - let the sun bake you dry. Then you walk further into the woods.

Like coming upon some keyboardists situated at the mouth of a cave, the entreaties on this record are calming but enigmatic, tinged with melancholy and reflection. Recurring motifs are given room to grow—there’s much space, and the progressions percolate, an auditory mapping of emotional crevices. Sentimentalism given a rougher edge. It lures you in; an orb appears, bright and buzzing. It motions for you to continue. As you do, a fragrance floats through the cave and fills your psyche, like a thousand roses hidden in the dark.

On "Keyboard Suite Vol. 1", MARV imbues analog subtractive and FM synthesis with a distinct physicality. Dub studio techniques and rigorously hand-played performances create an 'environmental' keyboard masterpiece strongly connected to the lineage of 1970s-80s private press ambient and electronic recordings-- but elegantly modern sound design and production methods center the album in the present day. A timeless quality pervades "Keyboard Suite Vol. 1", allowing for easy repeats, marinating the subconscious ache of loss with a dreamily resolute hope.

Japan's leading noise luminary Merzbow meets American electro-feedback artist Arcane Device as they mix and manipulate each other's work. The result are droning, bubbling sonic textures that are as serene as they are extreme pushing the boundaries and meeting in the middle. Both artists contribute long-form manipulations that inspire contemplation as much as highly caffeinated charges of sonic skullduggery. Sonic textures take center stage on Merzbow & Arcane Device.

David Lee Myers aka Arcane Device has been building electronics and creating feedback based electronic music since the late 70's. He has collaborated with Tod Dockstader, Kim Cascone, Asmus Tietchens among others.

Masami Akita's legendary Merzbow project has established him as an international electronic phenomenon and this collaboration with Arcane Device is being released at the same time as a 20th anniversary reissue of his Merzbeat album and a CD reissue of his 1983 album Material Action, all on Important Records.

For this new episode  we are very happy to host Juliette aka Lunar Maria. The first time I met her we had a cup of tea, in the Père Lachaise Graveyard in Paris, it's an important detail to understand the character.
Juliette is very talented with the exercice of ambiance building. The universe she carries could be drawn  as wonderful « cabinet de curiosité »  filed with  bones , dust, dead flowers , old painting , and rusty sound box. As she loves romantic and decrepit things, for this episode, she decided to design a toxic forest atmosphere, that would perfectly match with nausicaa, or the lord of the rings for passage.

Mix serie 02 -  Lunar Maria "Forêt Toxique, Forêt magique"

Burning Pyre ripples outward a new aural 'alloy' for Amulet of Tears  — all filtered through the vapor murmurings of a synthesiser and emerging phonography.  The flux as the respective halves float in the immersive aspect of synth drift & cultivates a new modality as an emblem of modernity by syncretic belief.  The mix remains largely fertile in impressive arrangement of electronic ingenuity.  More broadly, Christopher Macarthur has crafted a graceful approach to contemporary ambient and minimalist works across a number of releases for Opal Tapes, Perfect Aesthetics, Vaagner, Eastern Nurseries and Vienna Press under the moniker Burning Pyre.

In the time we strive to forget unattainable voice, all splendor and great temptations are almost always the result of being conscious. Even a small shudder will break the sea, while the silenced rapture of aliveness can be construed in a world where the wind can be a guest and the trees are full nests. We stand argus-eyed, close by the horizon behind us, moving forward to the wave that will repeat itself endlessly.

'Ephemerides' reveals the duality of humming drones and natural sounds as mellifluous curl grinds in noise by the hands of Samuele Larese under his moniker - Lessons in Hate - within reposeful atmosphere of the mountains, which remains the basis for the record as it is orchestral-like, carried out by the forest.

'Perspective' resembles graying daze for the tense lows, that holds subdued gentleness. Belfast based musician - Verge has brought his exalted grandeur to aural fluency in the vein of gauzy, filmy rumbles.
