We're not quite sure if Il Bosco is a real person or a cyborg that stalks Manchester's more salubrious night spots. One thing that is for sure, it's human alter-ego Christian Wood is most definitely real and presides over Manchester's Red Laser Records, a vinyl only Italo influenced love letter to music from a bygone neon era with a refreshingly forward thinking attitude. We recommend you check out his blog, a searingly honest and acerbically witty view of all that's wrong with the state of most of the current dance scene. Look out for forthcoming releases on Red Laser from our very own Nick Smith, Ste Spandex and a double gatefold compilation of 'mad rare Italo bangers'. The label also throw occasional Red Laser Disco parties, the next of which is at The Roadhouse in Manchester on 4th April with Clandestino fave Ali Renault.

Boy are we thrilled to bring you the latest instalment of Bside, this time incoming from Germany! This one is sent in by a true inspiration of ours - co-founder of Money $ex Records (alongside Max Graef - another favourite of the podcast), an exciting DJ, and an even more impressive producer ... Glenn Astro! 

Glenn Astro as been behind some truly beautiful musical projects, he is known for his creative and jazzier productions of house. If your unfamiliar with him, a great place to start would be 'Kilometer Disco', on the C-side of his album 'Throwback' where wonkey synths weave in and out of piano chords and saxophone solos. ‘Gemini’, the B2 track of his 2015 release ‘Hologram’, has long been a cherished peice of our Bside collection - a punchy house track full of funky melodies that are sure to tear up any dancefloor. 

This Bside mixtape is a taste of what makes Glenn Astro tick : a multi-genre journey of hypnotic and percussive rhythms. From relaxing ambiance to mesmerising bongos, smooth brass and soothing vocals, to downtempo electro and breakbeat, nu-jazz and reggae edits, all the way through to an energetic burst of pure DnB euphoria.
