The wait is over - PB4 is here. Perhaps one of the most revered album series in drum & bass is back with a vengeance, and some are saying it maybe the best yet. 

If you weren’t already aware Ivy Lab are a very talented trio consisting of Sabre, Stray and Halogenix, The guys collaborated with Hydro for 'Make It Clear' and all four minds can be clearly heard in the track, it doesn't end there however - The vocal duet of Mr Carter and Miss Annika trade phrases to great effect. Make it clear is a slice of soul that really resonates with the listener.

"Here you go, the first VA release on my label Propaganda Records called ‘Zbirka’, made, in the best traditions of wax, on 180 gram inside-out black vinyl in a gold sleeve. 
On it are five different but equally solid tracks worthy of your attention. ‘Tooman’ is typical of Ukrainian Yate’s minimal and groovy style. ‘The Story Behind Everything’ is a quality minimal track produced by a very talented Romanian producer who decided to take the alias nSd. In the end it's not that important to know WHO it is because his music speaks for itself. ‘Machinebag’ is made by Dani Casarano and Felipe Valenzuela; this one is techno for the dance floor. ‘Safari’ by me is that rare moment when I am interested to make something in the studio. I was very much supported to bring this track out by Nikolay Bogomolov, actually a young drum and bass producer from the Ukrainian city Dniepropetrovsk. A special thing about the track is its mix of techno and bass sounds. And finally, a key track of this release, the one so many of you were waiting for, ‘Journeyman’ produced by the previously unknown and youngest music maker on my label, Matteo Papachiolli, featuring the deep, sexy voice of Rich Medina. D 1 NSd - A Story Behind Everything (Original Mix)

Sometimes a certain sound or style becomes synonymous with a city and that's somewhat true, albeit in reverse. Despite their wide-ranging sounds, HudMo, Inkke, S-Type and the rest all have a common thread running through their individual takes on club music. And the same can be said for Connor O'Leary, aka @TryTryDieDown, who spent two years in the city and tomorrow releases his new EP, 'Peninsula', on Nightwave's very well-respected @Heka-Trax label. Quite possibly it's the injection of happy hardcore energy into the grime-bass-garage-rave mix. Whatever it is, it's made for a punchy little release stacked with bangers.

In January, we inaugurated Astral Plane Recordings with SHALT’s Acheron, a stunning label debut for one of 2016’s breakout artists. Combining a corporeal intensity with a deft touch for ghost melodies, Acheron is a release that exists entirely on its own plane and on November 25, SHALT returns with Inertia, his second outing on APR and the final release of the year for the label.

Building on the laser-focused intensity of Acheron, Inertia is an expansion in every sense, a larger-than-life slab of harsh electronics, hook-like riffs and knife’s edge sound design. Concepts introduced on Acheron (ecological destruction, the consequences of terraforming, stasis vs. velocity) are expounded on at length, embodied in the virulent noise and gut punch sub bass of tracks like “Wavering” and “Inert Indifferent”.

As a club record, Inertia has the ability to dominate space, but it instead exists on the precipice between a quantifiable dancefloor quotient and an intangible world building quality. From the machine chug of “Resistant” to the solipsistic lurch of “Ouroboric”, SHALT’s vision is born out in widescreen clarity and fine-tuned precision on Inertia and all it takes to engage is to listen loud.

Michigan based electronic music label, Kaiseki Digital, brings onboard London producer Thugwidow for their 71st release. Known for his airy breakbeat productions ranging from the low to the high end of the bpm spectrum, Thugwidow really knows how to set the atmosphere with his tracks. Foment is one of them, an ambient drum and bass track with cleverly laid out drum breaks, classic dub wobble bass, and melodics that jump in and out of the track teasing you and keeping you engaged as the track progresses. A perfect track to listen to when your alone and want to reflect. Goddess will be available on Bandcamp February 8th.
