Monkee Head is a carnivalesque network of cannibal sounds from galactic jungles and gear-powered mountains, where space cowboys powwow with witchdoctors.  Monkee Head echoes from a dark and neon cave in the jungles of Isla de Sombras (Island of Shadows), a solitary star in the spiral galaxy, Messier 51a.

Joe Newlin is a Los Angeles-based musician focused on the possibilities of the digitally extended guitar in song form. He is an advocate of open source software and uses the Pure Data programming environment to create custom audio software to cut and splice live solo guitar and vocal performances into commanding soundscapes. He has performed at numerous Southern California venues and has had his work included on Simballrec's 45 Seconds Of...  as well as self-released recordings. In addition to being a practicing musician, Joe also creates interactive sound installations that use sound as a means of exploring vulnerability and social interconnectedness.
