A note from Robert DeLong regarding this month's SOTM:

"Some two years ago, as if by fate, I woke up with a strange restlessness around 6 am, and decided to take a chance on my friend's music recommendation to accompany a longwinded run through downtown Los Angeles. The first song on the War on Drugs' album Lost in the Dream, "Under the Pressure", was the perfect haunting accompaniment to my journey through the urban landscape as the sun crept up behind the skyscrapers.

About a month ago I was about to go on a run looking for some music, and was reminded of the glory of this album. While listening I got the impression that the long-form structure of this song would work well in the context of some minimal tech-house instrumentation, and so this cover sort of assembled itself over the course of the afternoon."

This composition was created spontaneously. I composed an opening piano melody. The title immediately appeared in my head. I realized that it would be a very emotional composition. And then in two days everything else was composed.

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
