The Light Pours Out Of Me Live at The Academy, Manchester 2009

I wrote the sax melody for my friend Alistair Dobson who found it quite difficult to play (it uses pretty much the entire range of the tenor saxophone from the lowest note to the highest altissimo sometimes in some of the fast phrases!). I made the mistake of notating it in 4/4 instead of 12/8 like it should have been so that made his job that much more difficult....

Sonata No. 8 Pathetique: II.

The song title came about as Kentucky experienced a heat wave and drought in June 2012. I longed for some cooler temps, and our garden longed for some rain. So, I titled the song with a bit of wishful thinking. This was recorded with a banjo, Appalachian dulcimer, and a washtub bass I made earlier this year.
