This is a live recording of a set I played on 11/10/2024 for local crew DUNJ. They were hosting Om Unit for the Sydney leg of his Acid Dub Studies live show, and I played the opening set. I decided to select some of my favourite dub and acid influenced music in my collection so that it would be on-theme, but also wouldn't just tread the same ground as Om Unit by playing straight up dub. Hope you enjoy it.

Newy Bass Crew, established to foster a community focused on love, inclusivity, equality, diversity, authenticity, and the unrestrained freedom of self-expression in Australia’s Hunter Region and beyond. Shining a light on talents in rural areas, celebrating the connection between music and nature.

Launched in late 2021, the crew comprises of a plethora of DJs from the region and have gone on to hold numerous club events, showcases, fundraisers and secret parties, as well as hosting jungle and drum and bass legend, Dillinja, in Eora in early 2023, and holding a stage takeover at Subsonic Festival in late 2023 as well as at the Eora’s KOAN Sound boat party in 2024. NBC kicked off 2025 in collaboration with Subjective Eora and Wonky Nomad Productions for the Open Air City Doof, featuring the UK’s Hypho and PAV4N, in Eora, and a stage takeover at Antigravity 2025.

Our involvement in the local scene includes a history of local-focussed events and co-hosting a radio show on Orbital Radio Sydney from 2021 until its closure in 2023. Since then, we've continued to support the scene through our weekly mix series on Soundcloud, surpassing it's 100th feature in 2024. This series showcases talent from across Australia and the globe.

Our DJs cover a wide range of bass genres, including drum and bass, jungle, dubstep, footwork, UKG, bass house, psy dub, and more. Diversity, inclusivity, and safety are central to our events, and we are dedicated to fostering a sense of community within the bass scene.

With a big focus on underground rave and doof culture and safe spaces, our crew members have been featured at various events including Basscamp, Zenith Gathering, Dragon Dreaming Festival, Rain Dance Festival, Origins of Entropy, SubTerra, Esoteric Festival, RootBound Festival, Initiation Festival, Art Valley and more.

Andrew Wowk is a DJ, producer, radio host, promoter, and writer who has been active in the Eora (Sydney) electronic music scene for over 20 years. First introduced to dance music culture through work experience at community radio station Rhythm FM at age 16, Andrew exudes a passion for and knowledge of music that is the result of years of experience.

As a DJ, Andrew has earned a reputation for refined technical skills and eclectic track selection. His tastes run the gamut of techno, house, breakbeat, drum & bass and jungle, electro, and leftfield electronica, demonstrating a deep respect for the history of dance music, a love for its present, and excitement about its future. But even with such a wide range of music at his disposal, he finds ways to combine these numerous sounds into a cohesive whole. Often focused more on telling a story or creating a particular feeling with his sets, he regularly moves fluidly across stylistic boundaries, preferring to find other similarities between tracks than just their genre.

His intelligent approach to DJing has led to him playing at some of Sydney and Australia's most well-respected clubs/events, both as a headliner and as a support act for international artists. He has also received international recognition, being invited to play guest sets at Circus Osaka in Japan, DEPTH and Train Car House Party in Seattle, as well as perform on 313.FM in Detroit, WNYU in New York, and provide mixes for Animal Instinct in Berlin, Fnoob Radio, and Error Sessions in the UK.

Outside of club DJing, Andrew also produces music under the alias End User License Agreement, which has been released on labels such as Biotech Recordings, Baroque Recordings, Extra Spicy, Communication Records, Monarch Recordings, and Late Night Music. His remix of Floor Twenty’s “Say My Name” and his original track “Chonk” were both featured in Beatport’s and Juno's best bass music releases from 2021. He also hosts a weekly radio show "Time To Track" on 2SER, regularly writes for both print and online media, and runs events covering the spectrum of underground dance music, featuring previous headliners such as Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Marcus Intalex, Regis, Hodge, Adriana Lopez, Djinn, SNTS, and Nastia Reigel. 

Andrew is passionate about social and political issues and strongly believes in using music as a medium for addressing these issues. Much of the music he loves was originally created in tandem with social, cultural, and political movements, and he believes that contemporary music should also carry a message. To put this into practice, he launched Music For Change, a label which donates 100% of profits from all releases to various charities, alongside Jessica Tassone in 2021. Releases on the label have been supported by international artists such as Dave Clarke, Ani Klang, and Alchemist/Amy Kisnorbo, played on BBC Radio 1, and added to the rotation on local radio stations FBI Radio and 2SER.

From her early influences rooted in Motown, jazz, and funk, thanks to her bass player father, Megan cultivated a diverse appreciation for music. Working at a local record shop while attending university in the '80s, she broadened her musical horizons. Throughout her studies, travels, and career as an educator, Megan has always pursued her first passion: music and dance.

Megan meticulously crafts playlists with a purist's attention to harmonies, genre transitions, and tempo builds. With a profound appreciation for the roots of African music (bolstered by a decade of dance in Egypt), jazz, hip hop, funk, soul and deep house, her mixes will have you moving on the dance floor or grooving in your kitchen.
