"I Would Die 4 U" is the fourth single from Prince’s sixth studio album—the second with The Revolution—Purple Rain. With over 25 million copies sold, this Diamond status record is the third best-selling soundtrack album of all time. 

Touching anything from this musical genius is sacred territory, but I have always wanted an instrumental to this most revered track off this magnum opus of Jamie Starr’s.

Andrew Emil // Change Request 

A preeminent artist of Chicago's 3rd wave, Andrew Emil is one of house music’s most staunch stalwarts. A concert-trained percussionist since age 11, he earned a chair in his native Kansas City Symphony before eventually moving to Chicago. 

As a traditional musician, Andrew Emil has worked as a keyboardist, arranger, and an orchestrator on recording sessions and productions, cutting his teeth at the former Chicago Trax Recording Studios. 

Credited on over 200+ recordings, his composition and studio productions have ranged from concert works and sound design to film scoring stages and hundreds of releases of electronic music productions. 

After a life in live music performance, from orchestra percussion sections to punk rock ensembles, he crafted a reputation for House Music productions in Chicago under his own name, as well as Broadway & Wilson, and Uptown Tones. 

One of the earlier innovators of the “Jackin House” genre under the Broadway & Wilson moniker with Jeff Bloom, Andrew is never content to stay in one place or style of musical thought for very long. 

He is the only recording artist to do production work simultaneously for Derrick Carter’s Classic Music Company, Mark Farina’s Great Lakes Audio, Gene Farris’ Farris Wheel Recordings, and four-time GRAMMY nominee Steve “Silk” Hurley’s S&S Records.

A string of double-digit singles for prominent labels, including remixes for artists such as Common, Kanye West, Little Louie Vega, Jamie Principle, Steve "Silk" Hurley, Iz & Diz, Fast Eddie, Shalamar, Roland Clark, David Morales, Colette, Amp Fiddler, JT Donaldson, and Gene Farris, to name a few. 

2012 saw the emergence of his epithet, Change Request, with the Change Theory EP on four play music. This new persona allowed the freedom to explore hybrids of mid-tempo live instrument focused jazz-dance-fusion. 

Following this release was “After All” on Seasons Recordings, with another single thereafter featuring house music icon, Chez Damier, “I Wanna Go Back”, including a remarkable rework from Glenn Underground, on Glenview Records. 

The ever-growing collection of songs and musical dialogue eventually led to the conceptual album series from Change Request. Each full-length effort containing a completely separate story and scored via its own unique incidental subtext. 

Emil created AstraVox Music with the award-winning Los Angeles-based composer, Mr. Nathaniel, as a home for his increasing catalog of incidental dramatic musical compositions.

i love good house music and some techno but i mainly keep it underground. Been dj'ing for 13 years dont perspire to be anything special but i think i do ok when i get in the zone.Ive just started to learn the applications for producing my own tracks which has been a long time coming, i will showcase tracks that are doing it for me in regular dj sets i record on here for download. So i hope who ever i reach with my sets and future tracks enjoys what they hear. Peace!!!!

Great Lakes Audio Recordings is the brainchild of label head honcho Mark Farina, creator of Mushroom Jazz and legendary House Music DJ. Since his days at Gramaphone Records in Chicago in the 90s, Mark has always been a creative trailblazer in his approach and musical execution. Whether it was making handmade mixtapes featuring his artwork or mixing genres to eventually come up with his signature Mushroom Jazz sound, Mark has built his career on presenting a very personal vision of what a DJ can be. 
Great Lakes Audio Recordings is an extension of that drive to bring only the best in underground music to DJ’s and the masses alike. The label’s focus is squarely on promoting the work of producers from around the world that share that funky, groovy, soulful, and Chicago influenced sound fans have come to expect from Mark.  The Farina sound will be represented to the fullest on Great Lakes Audio Recordings with Mark curating every release from the music to the artwork.  Label Manager Jerry Walker (AKA J-Dub) has partnered and toured with Farina over the last 2 decades and has joined him to help create this new space for producers, visual artists, and fans to join together to share their love of House. Drawing inspiration from the history of the DIY culture that built this now global scene, Great Lakes Audio Recordings will be firmly rooted in the spirit of the loft parties, warehouse raves, and indie record stores that gave birth to this musical movement.
The label plans to continue to work with artists from it’s previous incarnation (GLA) such as Demuir, Kid Enigma, Ed Nine, Jazzman Wax , Iban Montoro, Riki Inocente, Ed The Spread and DJ Sneak while also promoting the work of new label artists like Javi Bora, Andres Boned, and Todd Omotani.  We’ll also be bringing new merchandise to market featuring our amazing new logo and artwork from releases and events. Our social media presence will be strong and constantly updated with fresh content found on our new Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Soundcloud, and YouTube pages.  Ed Nine & Kid Enigma, Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax, Matt & Ricky, and JT Donaldson kick started the label beginning in 2018 gearing up steadily into 2019. Marco first discovered turn tables at the tender age of 13. He grew up with two older DJ brothers who lived and breathed music. So naturally, having quite the influence on him that big brothers do, he followed in their footsteps and took up the family trade.  Not long after that, he realized that he had an equal knack and passion for this DJ thing. And with very little experience under his belt, he managed to convince his principal to let him DJ his own grade 8 graduation. It was that very first gig that marked the beginning of a successful 18 year old (and counting) career for him. He had found his purpose. 

        Breaking into Toronto's after hours scene was quite the homecoming for Marco. He graced the tables of places such as Guvernment, Fluid, Mad Bar, It, Inside, Venue, Casino, Posh, Lily's and too many more to name. He became a monthly resident of 'Breathe' Fridays at System Sound Bar- a euphoric establishment responsible for bringing into the city some big international talent. And all the while, he continued to let the greats such as Terry Mullen, DJ Dan, Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Armand Van Helden, Fedde Le Grand, Mark Farina, Mark Knight, Kaskade and one of his all time favorites Daft Punk influence the crap out of him.

       Marco's dreams had finally come true when he found himself opening up for acts Nick Warren. After many years of marveling at these legends from a far, he was finally very much a part of the mayhem that projected from the platform straight towards the extended arms reaching towards God. But he had never felt as close to God as he did on the night he had opened for Mark Farina. A night that would stay with him for many years to come. An enthralling night he would never forget.
