Being ill over the holiday period may have meant I had to sacrifice the usual end of year type content but there was no way I’d be saying goodbye to 2022 without a couple of sessions! This year’s end of year special comes in two parts, where I run through a heap of tunes that has sound tracked my year. This second instalment features more of my most played tunes this year, be it a track that has been at the head of releases and the scene in general or those that have flown under the radar. Part two includes weapons from @substrada, @widow and @chef_boyarbeatz plus the VIP banger of the year courtesy of @hamdiofficialmusic!

Disclaimer - There may be a couple of 2021 tunes in there without me realising at the time, but I'm not getting too hung up on that haha.

intro

divergent series builds on a glitchy melodic sequence that was composed on my modular synth. rich harmonies layered with reverb and broken by glitches, repeats, and stutters provide the foundation for one of my favorite things that I wrote in 2023.

this track has been through so many iterations. really thrilled to finally call it done and share it with the world. the original WIP title was "bugs" because it was based around some loud field recordings of insects. those sounds were eventually stripped to make room for guitar layers and percussion. this track blends some inspirations from shoegaze and jam, using a bunch of original guitar layers, along with some 808 drums and other synthetic sounds. hope you dig it :)

this track was a really fun exploration of non-4/4 time in bass music (count that 9/4) along with one of my favorite gnarly bass sounds. i hope you dig the meditations :)

meditations

originally titled 'heady groover', this track uses some drums from the tr-8s, sparse modular sounds for the melodic bits, and some heavy subs.  really digging this tempo for club-inspired stuff these days

This was recorded live in the 'Church of the Toad of the Nites of Eleusis' during the Sunday evening Closing Ceremony at Breaking Convention 2019 - The Fifth International Conference on Psychedelic Consciousness, that took place at Greenwich University 16th-18th August 2019.
