Smooth flow 👌 BeatOrganic idea inspired me.

The “Gröbminger Labheuger” – a yodel with roots reaching back to the early 19th century. Passed down by the legendary “Tutter-Mutter” in Schladming (around 1830), it found its way into early Styrian yodel collections and has been carried on from generation to generation.
In this recording reinterpreted – epic, powerful, and timeless.

Ethnomusicological research shows that this form of the Labheuger yodel is among the oldest documented variants – built in multipart structure and strongly influenced by instrumental folk music practice. This recording is my personal, epic reinterpretation – between tradition and modernity.

Gröbminger Labheuger

In this piece I explore polyphony and choral textures, inspired by the sound and technique of traditional choral singing. At the same time, I experiment with the principles of the Estill Voice Technique, allowing my voice to move through different colors, resonances, and qualities. 

The result is an intuitive improvisation: a vocal performance that oscillates between clarity and obscurity, sometimes articulated, sometimes blurred into mumbling. I also work with elements of a “fantasy language”—syllables and fragments that resemble speech but resist conventional meaning.

What emerges is a dialogue between structured vocal practice and the freedom of sound: where choral technique, experimentation with voice, and spontaneous creation meet in a field beyond language.

Lingua Obscura

Aneek d’Uwu is a interdisciplinary artist with a background in performing and applied arts as well as philosophy. She lives and works between the Alpine regions of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (France) and Tyrol (Austria). Her practice operates at the intersection of performative/artistic work and philosophical inquiry.

Her work centers on the use of voice and language, unfolding through text, physical expression, performance, and media art—always situated within the tension of critical reflection and philosophical questioning.

Her creative path has taken her through theater productions in Austria and Germany, as well as vocal and performative work in France and Belgium, complemented by choral ensemble practice and studio work, including at the Théâtre de la Croix-Rousse in Lyon, the Münchner Kammerspiele, and in Grenoble.
