This trio played consistently through the late seventies and early 80's in Edmonton, Alberta. The Palms Cafe, Shadows Lounge and other locations. Creativity, risk -taking and spontaneous composition was front and centre, and the chemistry was full of love and playfulness. Judi, Bill and George could take all the chances they desired to with the safety net of each other to hold on to.

I'm Running Late (That's the Question)

The debut of this fun tune which we hope we become embraced by other vocalists. "It's like "Twisted" for the next generation of singers!", exclaimed Freddie Bryant, jazz guitarist, when he first heard it premiered at the Vermont Jazz Center. "I'm Running Late" was composed by the pianist on the album, Ray Gallon, and previously copyrighted by as an instrumental entitled "That's the Question" and recorded by the Harper Bros with Ray Gallon. Angela added the lyrics in 2017. 

I'm running late but as I head out the gate, oh wait!
Where did my keys go? Oops a stain!
Could that be my train leaving now? It is! No!
Not a moment to be spared now.

I'm running late but as I head to our date, oh wait!
Forgot my iphone! Different shoes!
Dishwasher is getting repaired today.

There's so much rain, 
Oh what a pain,
Inopportune,
Good afternoon! (I saw my old boyfriend).

I should hang up,
Where is the pup,
I'm out of time,
But it's lunchtime! (Just a quick bite to eat!?)

I'm running late I must have slept much too late
Ding dong, there goes the doorbell.
Disarray! Will I make it on time for class today?
That's the question!
I'm runnin'. I wish I had left ten minutes ago.

Second Chorus:

o’clock I had to be there.
So confused!
Misused when I should be excused

I’m running late because I stopped to donate
some blood, there is a shortage.

Angela Verbrugge is a charismatic vocalist based in Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She was recently named JazzTimes' Magazine Female Jazz Vocalist of the Year in the Readers' Poll. 

A former actress, Angela turned to her passion of performing the best of Great American Songbook, vocal jazz and bossanova favourites. She also writes songs in that style, and has a knack for finding hidden gems in the traditional pop and vocal jazz songbooks.

With a voice that is at once both innocent and sultry, she exudes playfulness and passion that takes audiences on a journey to their own memories of love and excitement, longing and broken-heartedness. She calls upon beloved composers like Porter, Gershwin, Kern and the repertoire of beloved songstresses and crooners of the past while adding her own signature flair and polish.

Angela customizes her program for each show, whether she is performing contemporary jazz at Frankie's Jazz Club in Vancouver, the historic home for jazz in Toronto, the Rex, exploring the Great American songbook at the Victoria International JazzFest in her hometown, or gracing the stage at the Vancouver International Film Festival or around the world in Japan, Germany, Luxembourg, Türkiye, the UK or France.
