Next up at Markham we’ve got a mix from the ever busy/ever thoughtful basic chanel. Employing a wide range of Newtonian physics, this mix comes through at a mind bending tempo. Hinting at breaks, psy trance, and dubstep, listeners are allowed to enjoy all the cakes instead of settling for one silly flavour. basic chanel’s tenure at the reigns of Untitled909 have brought many an influence to her craft… something that shines through in this one hour mix. We’re super super happy to have her on the platform, and are looking forward to a future of happy collabs, hugs, and smiles.

Under the Priori (@priori-ties) moniker, Québecois musician Francis Latreille has established himself as a crucial voice in underground techno — as a producer, DJ, and live artist. Across a sprawling discography that includes four full-length albums, several EPs, and a host of collaborative projects, he has crafted a sound that is richly textured and genre-defying.

Priori’s work spans the full spectrum of techno, from introspective and meditative passages to driving, dancefloor-oriented momentum. His productions blend elements of ambient, dub, IDM, and tech house, navigating fluidly between nature and technology with a signature sense of unresolved tension. Fractal-like rhythms, crystalline textures, and meticulous sound design define his sonic world — intricate, vibrant, and emotionally resonant.

Beyond his solo output, Priori is also an accomplished mixing engineer, having collaborated with artists such as james K, Bambii, Maara, Ex-Terrestrial, Roza Terenzi, and D.Tiffany. As a co-founder of both NAFF and Jump Source Studio, his influence continues to shape the contours of underground electronic music across Canada and Europe.

Aura Sonora return with a second release to follow up the fantastic first one, this time it brings together two meticulous studio craftsmen, DYL & Tammo Hesselink. Their 'Moire Patterns' EP kicks off with 'Pattern 1', a deep and rhythmic slice of rubbery techno that rides broken beats with atmospheric pulses up top. 'Pattern 2 slows down to a predatory crawl with icy pads making for a dystopian vibe then 'Pattern 3' brings a sense of mystic tribal ritual deep in some futuristic jungle and 'Pattern 4' closes down with more fantastically crafted, dubby, broken rhythms that are topped with organic percussion and almost impossible not to move to. Pure rhythm science brilliance.

PREMIERE: DYL & Tammo Hesselink – ‘Pattern 2’ (Aura Sonora)

For CoziMix 21 we welcome Brooklyn based DJ, Maharam. Maharam is an American DJ and co-organizer of Final Passage, a Brooklyn-based event series emphasizing leftfield curation across both club and deep listening environments. Maharam's affinity for deeper sound is rooted in the melancholic landscapes of his Pacific Northwest upbringing, as well as his background as a guitarist and jazz vocalist. After moving to New York seven years ago, Brooklyn's rich DIY scene has been central to his life, acting as a constant source of inspiration and connection. During this mix he takes us on an atmospheric journey which he recorded spontaneously at 6am on a snowy Sunday dawn at his friend's apartment in the lower east side. 'I wanted to play in my collection of emotive moody trip hop, ambient, and dubby sounds for the cold season.'

CoziMix Questions : 

1. How and why did you get into dj’ing?
Living in Brooklyn, I feel very spoiled by the talent that comes through the city, and I've been very fortunate to have friends with great taste that have led me to some beautiful events. I had been going out for many years before I ever considered DJing, and picking it up after so long was very natural. I had set aside a lot of my musical life after moving to NY in 2018, but rediscovering it through DJing in the context of the scene has been very inspiring. 

2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you've been to or experienced and why?
I went to an event at one of my favorite DIY spaces in the fall of 2024 put on by Ballet (shoutout 320 and Blessing). It was a cozy deep listening vibe, where people were lying on mats on the floor. I was really blown away by Significant Other, who played a set spanning shoegaze, folk, and dub, but with a feeling of tender loneliness that left some of the audience in tears. Its not often I experience sets that hold you in the way that one did. 

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert in the scene?
I'm probably more of an extrovert, I really enjoy being out and running into people that I've been connected with through music.

4. If you had to choose 1 track to vibe out too forever, what would it be?

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig? Do you have any special remedies/ mental/physical prep/ places to go to? :)
I usually just spend time at home digging, mixing, and playing around in rekordbox, regardless of whether I have a gig or not. I have a pretty intense organizational system that I rely on quite a bit. I've also put a lot of work into my apartment lately, so I enjoy spending a lot of time at home :)

For the first iteration in a new series of releases by the London based artist, Sub Basics brings his signature blend of minimal UK bass, with prismatic percussion loops & spaced out, psychedelic grooves, meeting a tech-house adjacent score that underpins the release.

Immersive yet functional, the release is versatile by nature, timely and fitting for both the autumnal shift in the northern hemisphere, and the welcoming of spring in Australia.

For #180, and in conjunction with his brand new Animalia EP that is officially out today - here's Sub Basics, UK based producer, with a mix made up of 100% of his own productions.

Tom aka Sub Basics has been humbly putting music into the world via Temple of Sound , Modern Hypnosis and more, for the last few years.  Personally, when I first discovered his tunes a while back, it was a no brainer to work with him on an EP. His  music somehow sits at the perfect junction of so many different genres, moods and styles I enjoy. A versatile and prolific producer. Super happy to welcome him to the Animalia family.
