Switzerland’s Mina Records turns to the new partnership of Our Loving Sun for its 12th release, and serves it up with a standout remix from countryman Ripperton. Our Loving Sun is a new band project that sees Swede Anders Ilar and American Chris Yard team up to create a melange of ambient, dub techno, acid, pop and synth wave music with plenty of orchestral additions and guest appearances.

Opening track ‘To Disappear’ is a swelling electronic composition filled with subtle bass guitar riffs, soaring vocals and clouds of melody that all blissful blend into one another. Like Trentemoller but at his most warm and romantic, this is rich and ethereal music. 
The same track gets remixed by Tamed boss Ripperton off the back of his own latest full length. The result is a typically long – 8 minutes –track that is epic in ambition. It takes a while to unfold from just a kick drum, but by the time it’s in full flow is a dramatic
concoction of frosty percussion, chilly icicle like melodies and a frazzled bassline that would fit perfectly into one of Ame’s most cultured sets.

‘Come Apart’ is more rooted to a steady and propulsive kick drum but again the soundscape above is awash with various guitar lines and celestial synths that light up the track from behind with a heavenly glow. There are shades of everything from Joy Division to Depeche Mode, Kraut rock to New Wave bottled up within, and it makes for absorbing listening.

Finally, ‘One Source’ slows to a deep dub wise swagger. The vocals are haunting and ghostly – so too the lone guitar strings that get plucked – and the whole thing sounds like a huge underwater chamber with gentle currents churning and piercing beams of light shooting down through it all.

Our Loving Sun manage to sound organic and electronic, old and new at exactly the same time. Is a clever tick masterfully pulled off, and recognition must go to Mina for unearthing this exciting pair in the first place.

There are few more interesting outfits in electronic music than Hamburg natives Digitalism with the eccentric duo otherwise known as Jens “Jence” Moelle and İsmail “Isi” Tüfekçi capturing the worlds imagination for well over a decade now. Since forming over a mutual love of vinyl the pair have gone on to enjoy success around the globe remixing esteemed artists such as Depeche Mode, The Presets and Cut Copy whilst releasing on some of the industry’s coolest labels and now DT have secured their an extended mix of latest effort for premiere.

Titled ‘Second Chance’ their latest single sees the duo unveil the latest stage of their musical evolution that was hinted at with 2014 efforts ‘Fahrenheit 32’ and the Youngblood Hawke featuring ‘Wolves’. Arriving February 16th via Zerothree and backed by remixes from Funkagenda, Capa, Traumer and Swedish upstart David Vrong you can check out the extended version of ‘Second Chance’ now. Big!

Selador, the independent underground label spearheaded by Dave Seaman & Steve Parry, may be just two years young, but they have built quite the repertoire of artists, and their 24th release is one by Dutchman Jaap Jigthart titled “I Know Change”, which has Alice Rose on vocals.

SHOW-B keep the melodies a little more minimal and roll out the percussions. This interpretation is tougher, and keeps things darker in a more visceral aspect, in that, the atmospheric aura surrounding the original are seemingly not as prominent in this remix.

Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.

The Box is a project born of three prodigious musicians desire to explore new sounds and fresh approaches. Stefano Onorati, Walter Paoli and Andrea Guzzoletti, each highly acclaimed and vastly experienced musicians in their own right combine in perfect harmony to create this forward thinking collaboration. For this formidable collective, the creative process far outweighs the final result. For them, the central concept is always focused on how to play and express oneself instead of what to play; how they get there and not where they go. This outlook results in continuous improvisation with variations of form, colour and tone. A melting pot in which to mix the accumulated experience of three people engaged in perpetual and unrestrained dialogue, The Box always favours non-method over method. The only limitation being the absence of limits because when one doesn’t adhere to a form, any form is possible and when one doesn’t have a style, any style is possible.

"Sketches Of Pain" is a meet-up of two cultures which have been at war with each other for thousands of years. Music unites where the world of Men divides! Here the magical voice of Egyptian singer Ahmad Elsawy can weave its spell. Intelligent electronica, ethnic and acoustic instruments, all join together once more to blend two worlds into one universal language.

3 remixes. @LucaBacchetti continues his series of Endless Remixes preferring a mostly dub feel with a version that retains some of the original elements, creating that tension culminating in what is the “suspended” sonic idyll that lately has characterized his breakdowns, by now a trademark of his. @JonCharnis, who we already know for his work on Innervisions and All Day I Dream, has taken it in another direction to put together a true masterpiece, the tone here becoming more "trippy" with a pure afterhours atmosphere. The ever present and increasingly detailed groove add to that magic touch that has made Charnis one of the most interesting techno artists on the American scene. Last but not least one of our favourite techno artists, @EduardoDeLaCalle, surprises us with an interpretation that distances itself completely from the original, moving it into that enigmatic, mysterious and unregulated territory that is definitely his very own unmistakable way of living and feeling techno music. An EP that we expect will come-out from indoor clubs to find its best expression in exotic locations, deserts, beaches, dimensions that are part of that imaginary world that we call: ENDLESS.

Alandria Sheffer, otherwise know as Adra, has added yet another notch to the blossoming scene of San Francisco techno producers with her debut EP, Fear Is The Mind Killer. Joining the likes of Matrixxman, who's just provided a bleepy analog flip of her original "Chapterhouse," as well as Vin Sol and the always-amazing Honey Soundsystem crew, Adra's latest work encapsulates the way this Bay area clique of techno producers is pushing the envelope. Adra's original is a slower looming cymbal jack with a looming voice of god swell gluing it together. Matrixxman ups the tempo and resonant frequencies alongside analog bleeps in line with early Hamtramck jams. ​
