Artem’s ALPHA 9 alias is where he has found his stride in recent years. Focusing on the progressive trance that he fell in love with as a teenager, some of Artem’s standout moments as ALPHA 9 include ‘Before The Dawn’, ‘Stellar’, ‘Skin’, and his faithful update of Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s evergreen classic ‘Good For Me’.

ALPHA 9's energetic sets have been heard at Steel Yard, Dreamstate, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Ushuaïa, Amnesia Ibiza, and Creamfields, winning him millions of fans worldwide. Most recently, he thrilled 22,000 fans at Above & Beyond’s sold out Group Therapy 500 celebrations in Los Angeles, where a special surprise was awaiting at the end of his performance - the announcement of his debut album as ALPHA 9, ‘New Horizons’.

Featuring fourteen tracks from across the ALPHA 9 universe, ‘New Horizons’ takes the ALPHA 9 project to soaring new heights. “This is a new chapter,” Artem says. “I’m very confident in the direction I’m taking this project. This new album is a journey through the beginning of ALPHA 9’s artistry to now.”

‘New Horizons’ has lived many lives: Artem feels this is the most honest, raw and energising music he’s created yet. “It’s called ‘New Horizons’ because it’s the journey from the first steps of ALPHA 9 to maturity,” Artem says. “This is ALPHA 9’s signature, instantly recognisable sound, but it’s also future-facing and explores new horizons.”

Joining ALPHA 9 on ‘Down to Love’ is Jonathan Mendelsohn. A voice that will be recognised by fans of nearly every genre of mainstage dance, he sings on records including Seven Lions and Jason Ross’ ‘Oceans’ and ‘Foolish Of Me’, Brennan Heart’s hardstyle hit ‘Imaginary’, plus Hardwell and KAAZE’s collaboration ‘We Are Legends’.

"Parallels began as I explored synths, sounds, textures, and melodic motifs from my early days (even childhood) in dance music. I broke out all my old synths both analog and virtual analog, and dove back into classic sound design, wondering why I had put them down in the first place. This reconnection with my past taught me quite a few things, but most importantly: I learned to take things a bit less seriously, and not give a fuck.

I’ve always found it challenging to merge my two passions in electronic music: the dance floor, and the more heady home listening environment. That’s why I specifically decided to challenge myself further and include both sonic landscapes in one track: Parallels. It starts as a 100BPM idm-infused half time hard techno (in my eyes) track, that gradually builds to an electro-slammed full on classic trance revival moment. This is the first time I’ve fused both sonic passions of mine into one whole piece, and I’m very sure this will not be the last!

The EP sweeps across my musical mood board of everything from hyper emotive string sections augmented by modular synth patterns, to more whimsical tuned percussive ear worms. The most exciting part for me was the self discovery of understanding that these two wildly different sides of my musical curiosity can exist in parallel with each other, harmoniously and non conflicted. I proudly present Parallels in its entirety today, and look forward to exploring this concept even further."

A new 'respray' of 2019 Anjunabeats club cut 'All In' from the London based trio carries a message that has never been more vital: we're all in this together.

With health workers around the globe locked in battle with COVID-19, Above & Beyond were inspired to revisit Fatum, Genix, Jaytech and Judah's tag-team effort, previously titled 'All In', from summer 2019.

Featuring a succinct yet powerful vocal refrain, Above & Beyond's Respray of "We're All In This Together" handles the source material with care, adding orchestral textures, classic trance plucks and a delicate piano outro. 

Above & Beyond says, "It's something we've been hearing so often this past month: "we're all in this together". These are powerful words for our time. They are a reminder that we all have a role to play, whether you're a key worker or isolating at home."

The official music video features cameos from over 70 frontline workers who are also members of Above & Beyond's official Facebook fan group, alongside Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep artists and label staff.  

Proceeds from the single will be donated to the World Health Organisation's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund supporting vulnerable communities in nations without a strong health care system.

Celebrating their twentieth anniversary this year, London’s Above & Beyond unveil another hard-hitting club instrumental: ‘Crash’.

Referred to as the ‘20 Years ID’ by tune trainspotters in our label community, ‘Crash’ was one of six Above & Beyond originals heard on their Anjunabeats Volume 15 compilation, which was released in July of this year. 

The track was created just as the pandemic took hold, ready for summer festival sets that never eventuated. ‘Crash’ was finally given its long awaited live debut in the band’s Group Therapy 400 livestream. The show was recorded on the River Thames, London in late September of this year, just a hop, skip and a jump from the trio’s recording studio in Bermondsey. 

‘Crash’ is out now on Anjunabeats.
