We always try to go into each ABGT special with at least one new Above & Beyond instrumental. For ABGT150, it was ‘A.I.’. It can be a bit nervy debuting completely new material that no-one has ever heard at such a big gig - broadcast the world over - especially when it comes with some curveball moments such as the drop on this one. Thankfully the reaction, both in the room and on the web, was a hugely positive one.

Two of the brightest talents on the Anjuna roster, ilan Bluestone and Maor Levi’s solo output has been at the forefront of the trance and progressive scene over the last five years. An uncompromising electro tinged affair, ‘Shake The Air’ combines ilan’s rich chords and Maor’s low end for an exhilarating main stage ride.

Having become a favourite in Above & Beyond’s in recent months, ‘Dynamic’s’ chunky bassline has become a darker moment in their sets of late. Stripped back and unrelenting, ‘Dynamic’ is a dark and brooding club tool, making the melodic moments even more poignant.

A sought after ID from the boys' sets for nearly 3 years, ‘You’re On My Mind’ reflects ilan and Maor’s love of groove heavy trance; layers of percussion and a driving bass combining for a volatile dance floor release.

Completing the package is a new member of the Anjuna family, San Jose’s Daun Giventi. Having impressed with the likes of ‘Sutra’ and ‘Perpetual Motion’ in recent months, Daun applies his head down approach to ‘Shake The Air’ for a thunderous rolling rework.

"Parallels began as I explored synths, sounds, textures, and melodic motifs from my early days (even childhood) in dance music. I broke out all my old synths both analog and virtual analog, and dove back into classic sound design, wondering why I had put them down in the first place. This reconnection with my past taught me quite a few things, but most importantly: I learned to take things a bit less seriously, and not give a fuck.

I’ve always found it challenging to merge my two passions in electronic music: the dance floor, and the more heady home listening environment. That’s why I specifically decided to challenge myself further and include both sonic landscapes in one track: Parallels. It starts as a 100BPM idm-infused half time hard techno (in my eyes) track, that gradually builds to an electro-slammed full on classic trance revival moment. This is the first time I’ve fused both sonic passions of mine into one whole piece, and I’m very sure this will not be the last!

The EP sweeps across my musical mood board of everything from hyper emotive string sections augmented by modular synth patterns, to more whimsical tuned percussive ear worms. The most exciting part for me was the self discovery of understanding that these two wildly different sides of my musical curiosity can exist in parallel with each other, harmoniously and non conflicted. I proudly present Parallels in its entirety today, and look forward to exploring this concept even further."
