Above & Beyond’s 2011 has been all about one thing – landmarks. In January, they celebrated 10 years of their ever-growing Anjunabeats label, before March’s 200th single release on the imprint; the genre defying anthem and Beatport #1 hit “Rebound” by Arty & Mat Zo. 

In April, Jono, Tony and Paavo then embarked on their biggest ever tour of the US with a road blocked 22-date stretch, including two sold out shows at LA’s legendary Hollywood Palladium, with the first selling out in just 90 minutes - a new record for the legendary venue.

After seeing their “Sun & Moon” anthem playlisted by BBC Radio 1 and reach the top 15 of the Billboard Dance Charts in the US, the trio were ready to unleash their second artist album – “Group Therapy.” Earning them a cover star interview with DJ Magazine and described as “stadium dance with an incredibly personal feel” and “artist album of the year” in a Mixmag review, the string-laden album has been praised by critics and fans alike as a masterpiece in emotive, song-based electronic music. 

In such a fast moving year, it seems fitting to close on a familiar totem pole in Above & Beyond’s annual calendar; their Anjunabeats Volume series. Capturing the sound of a label that has dominated Beatport charts and been supported this year by DJs as diverse as The Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and David Guetta, Anjunabeats Volume 9 offers 2 CDs of predominantly unreleased, exclusive tracks from artists like Arty, Mat Zo, Andrew Bayer, Jaytech, Maor Levi and Above & Beyond themselves.

Modern, melodic and emotive, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats sound remains unrestricted from one-dimensional genre restrictions. Memories in music, everlasting impressions: this simple mantra defined ’Scars’, ilan Bluestone’s debut artist album.

Released in April 2018, the iTunes Dance #1 album demonstrates ilan’s love for all aspects of electronic music. ilan brought the ‘Scars’ tour to 65 locations across 4 continents, leaving an everlasting impression on trance fans from EDC Las Vegas to Creamfields U.K. and Above & Beyond’s ABGT300 celebrations in Hong Kong.

The closing chapter to ilan’s golden year, ‘Scars’ (Remixed) puts his songs in the hands of a trusted inner-circle of musical contemporaries.

Debuted at ABGT300 Hong Kong, German trance titans Cosmic Gate are at their brooding best, flipping ilan’s anthem ‘Frozen Ground’ feat. Giuseppe De Luca. Serbia’s Vintage & Morelli lends a 90's house twist to another De Luca record, ‘I Believe’. There are also reworks from Dutch maestro Rafaël Frost, Russian progressive star PROFF, Spencer Brown, KOVEN and ilan’s musical partner in crime, Maor Levi, who contributes three fresh mixes to the album. Rounding things off is a live studio rework from Glastonbury favourites Shadowlark, the band fronted by ‘Rival’ lead singer Ellen Smith.

The next chapter in Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘Remedy’ narrative, ‘Remember’, sees Josh and Dave return to the thought-provoking and wistful songwriting that has made them such a beloved act in electronic music for nearly two decades. After a chance encounter in their native Spokane, a partnership with Brayden Schmick (a.k.a. Centre) blossomed, with the versatile musician contributing vocals on ‘Remember’ plus strings accompaniments across several tracks on the album. 

"I first introduced myself to Britt and Josh at dance parties she would host at her vintage store called Living Room. During a dinner at their house a spontaneous performance of me playing the viola, Josh on piano and Britt singing happened in the dining room. I then sent Josh some of my music and he sent me an instrumental to sing over. ‘Remember' came to me one night and they took the first sample I sent them. Josh and Dave are both so personable and authentic, and I am thankful to have been able to grow a relationship with them.” - Centre

Supporting the timeless analogue spirit of G&D’s original mix are an eclectic cast of British talent. Fresh from conquering new heights with his Anjunabeats Worldwide 09 mix compilation, Damion Houchen (a.k.a Genix) continues his warehouse rave odyssey with yet another accomplished rework. 

Meanwhile, Brad Littler (better known as OCULA) makes his Anjunabeats debut. A regular on Lane 8’s This Never Happened imprint and with several stunning moments on Anjunadeep as of late, he brings a new light to the darker undertones of ‘Remember’.
