Grum shares new music from his upcoming album ‘Unreality’: ‘Come Alive / Pattern Recognition’.

Progressive house connoisseur, Deep State label head and Anjunabeats stalwart, June 24 sees the release of Grum's fourth artist album, ‘Unreality’; his most reflective work to date, putting human connection in the digital age under the microscope. A story in two halves, the album is introspective, ideas-driven and song heavy, holding a mirror to Graeme’s own emotional journey over the last two years.

“The first half mostly came about in the summer of 2020. With all that time on my hands, and as a form of therapy, I started rediscovering a lot of 80s music I loved and hadn’t listened to for a long time. This turned into doing special 80s livestreams to connect with my fans. There is definitely a bit of longing here for simpler and happier times.” Grum explains. “The second half of the album has a darker, apocalypse rave feel to it”.

The final singles to be released before the album’s launch, ‘Come Alive’ and ‘Pattern Recognition’ connect both sides of the ‘Unreality’ narrative. “This is a bit of an oddball track which is possibly turning into my favourite off the album.” says Grum on ‘Come Alive’. “Sarah delivered a really lovely vocal about pulling yourself together. Musically, a big Depeche Mode influence on this one, with a bit of James Holden too.” A “proper synth workout”, ‘Pattern Recognition’ takes proceedings into Gabriel & Dresden vs. Felix da Housecat territory.

Grum embarks on phase one of his ‘Unreality’ tour this summer, including 18 dates across North America with shows in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Toronto and more.

Above & Beyond link up with Anjunabeats favourite Mat Zo, on their new collaborative single ‘Always Do’.

An ID from last summer's Group Therapy 450 celebration in London, ‘Always Do’ is a warehouse-ready blend of sounds from Above & Beyond and Mat Zo, complete with distorted vocals and acid-laden basslines. This is not the first time that Above & Beyond and Mat Zo have creatively crossed paths: Mat previously remixed A&B and Richard Bedford’s ‘Thing Called Love’ back in 2012.

‘Always Do’ kicks off Above & Beyond's busy musical schedule for 2022. It was road-tested extensively on the trio’s Anjunafamily Reunion Tour in autumn 2021, which visited all corners of North America, including a pair of sold-out nights at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

In December 2021, Above & Beyond were invited to perform an intimate, livestream DJ set at Piedra del Peñol in Guatape, Colombia for French YouTube sensation Cercle. The replay of their set has been watched nearly three million times on YouTube.

Mat Zo broke onto the scene in 2008 and has been causing an uproar ever since. In the early noughties, he penned Anjunabeats classics like ‘The Lost’ and ‘Synapse Dynamics’ which were far ahead of their time. They were followed by the likes of ‘Superman’, ‘The Sky’, and ‘Rebound’ (with ARTY). He pushed the Anjunabeats sound to the mainstage, racking up spins from Pete Tong, Axwell, and Armin van Buuren. His latest studio album, ‘Illusion of Depth’, was released on the label in October 2020.

Mat joins Anjunabeats at their upcoming label shows in London and Miami. Plus, he’ll be at The Gorge for Group Therapy Weekender 2022 in July, alongside fellow label stars Andrew Bayer, Genix, Oliver Smith, Trance Wax and more. GRAMMY-nominated electronic trio Above & Beyond present the 16th edition of the iconic Volume series, arriving July 22 on their Anjunabeats imprint.

Featuring 33 tracks over two discs, Anjunabeats Volume 16 features exclusive new music from 30+ artists, both fresh and familiar to Anjunabeats fans. Sketched on the road and in Jono, Tony and Paavo's London studio over the past year, this new mixed compilation showcases the direction of Anjunabeats over the next 18 months.

Label stalwarts ilan Bluestone, Andrew Bayer, Gabriel & Dresden, Genix, Oliver Smith, Sunny Lax and Maor Levi all contribute. Ilan's first outing after the release of his album ‘Impulse’ is an exquisite rolling groover with BT, 'Run'. Andrew Bayer returns with not one but two albums this summer, each side reflecting the ‘Duality’ of his art – ‘On Tape’ is Bayer’s contribution to Volume 16 and it demands to be played as loud as possible. 

Some experienced veterans make their Anjuna debut: there’s a contribution from Conjure One and Sinéad O'Connor (infamous for ‘Tears From The Moon’), while legendary house-head Fred Falke is on remix duty, adding an extra French touch to Mat Zo and OLAN's 'Colours' from Mat's 'Illusion of Depth' album.



Five graduates of the Rising EP series also feature, plus a handful of up-and-comers including ANUQRAM, anamē and Simon Gregory. The captivating Kasablanca also have their first Volume outing, fresh off their stunning 'Immunity EP' and a remix of Above & Beyond's 'Black Room Boy'.

And that brings the story back to A&B’s Hello Studios in Bermondsey. Four of the records debuted at ABGT450 last year feature on Volume 16, although two now take an entirely different direction. ‘Screwdriver’ has received a deeper treatment from Jono, while Oliver Smith reworks ‘Gratitude’. ‘Projection’, an ID from their ABGT450 set, has been tweaked and tightened on the road over the last few months, as has ‘Chains’ featuring Marty Longstaff. Plus, two excursions from A&B operations: there's a contribution from Jono's brand new project with Darren Tate, JODA (retouched by PROFF), and Paavo's resurrected P.O.S alias.

Northern Irish producer GVN releases ‘So In Love’.

In 2021 GVN, aka Gavin Brown, dropped his Anjunabeats debut ‘I Don’t’ as a serious statement of intent. First introduced to the label by anamē’s Marcus Schössow, the two would go on to collaborate on the 700th Anjunabeats release, ‘Take Me There’, which earned spins from Lane 8, Kryder, Anja Schneider, Armin van Buuren, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Tibasko and many more.

The Derry-native showed no signs of slowing down in the years that followed, serving up remixes for the likes of Lange and Chakra and attracting support from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong and Danny Howard. 

GVN kicked off this year with his dynamic double-header ‘Thinking About You / Believer’, which earned early support from BBC Radio 1’s Jaguar and on BBC Music Introducing in Sussex & Surrey.

Expect more new music from GVN in the coming months. ‘So In Love’ is out now on Anjunabeats.
