Critically-acclaimed Dutch act Weval (AKA Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers) arrive on Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint with their new EP Changed For The Better. The duo hail from Amsterdam, where they have been cultivating a unique sound that balances high energy electronic funk and emotive synth arrangements with bold, beautifully composed melodies and songwriting. The duo recently embarked on a mission to rediscover themselves and what truly drives them, in a process of liberation from self-imposed constraints. Their creative process was reinvigorated with an uninhibited approach and Changed For The Better represents Weval unfiltered, accepting themselves for who they truly are. It began as a concept & quickly became a collective in late 1998 when 3 friends crafted Neon (then a labour of love) into the perfect club night that encapsulated the trios ever growing eclectic tastes for music & visual art.

The idea was to integrate interior & graphic design as much as possible, using motion animation as lighting & re designing layouts of venues to create new spaces within a given space to provoke thought, human interaction & mood.

Neon exclusively used unique venues that could be completely physically transformed to accommodate any given event, show or idea.

Neon would stay true to its mission of quality & originality for the next 10 years, and produce thousands of high quality shows and parties, with some of electronic musics biggest acts.

Now in its 15th year of producing events, Neon has transitioned into a proper concert promoter, producing over 100 shows a year at various venues in and around Montreal while consistently drawing capacity crowds to all of their events.

Ninja Tune has established itself as one of the world’s leading independent record labels. Now a bonafide global music institution, synonymous with diverse, uncompromising releases and equally visionary artists—from breaking-through to GRAMMY-winning, internationally acclaimed acts—committed to pushing the boundaries of music.
