MUIR independently released their self-titled album in October 2014, an instrumental collaboration of 10 musicians founded by Nashville-based guitarist Drew Creal. These 11 songs span a wide range of emotive dynamics and influences, including progressive metal, post-rock and stoner rock. Distorted and delay-drenched guitars, grooving bass and intricate drumming create a myriad of sonic textures, taking listeners on a series of unique journeys.

Just as author John Muir famously wrote of leaving an over-civilized world and returning to nature to find true harmonious connection with self, the universe and creator, Creal was inspired to return to the guitar and regain a sense of connection and home found only in shared experiences of music. Shortly after the self-titled album release, Creal moved away from years of casual collaborations with a horde of Nashville instrumentalists, solidifying a three-piece band with drummer Jason Root and bassist Joe Burgers. This unit says they have set their sights on “honing a wall of sound that will push fans beyond the noise of the ‘over-civilized world’ and into deeper connections that remind the soul it is eternal, and we are not alone.”
