Hey Annie, this is a wonderful piece, my friend. Love how it can facilitate meditation, too. Almost like ASMR, but more lively. Great work on this, my friend!

I start a new project from scratch. I try to mix my progressive rock influences with electronic sound to create a kind of original mix. It is quite difficult to select a specific genre for me but I hope to create a good feeling to my listener.

I wrote this music at a time when I was going through a difficult time. I had never lost hope. I had never been weak in faith. I knew that I would find my way and I would find it.

“Grill that Snapper” stands as a track that bridges the gap between the introspective nature of acoustic music and the bold expressiveness of electronic music. It's an audacious fusion that respects the listener's intelligence and emotional capacity, promising a rich and rewarding listening experience. Each note and silence in between tells a part of a greater story. This piece isn’t mere background music; it's a sophisticated journey through sound that demands active listening and rewards with layers of intricate details.

It begins with a soulful dialogue between a plucked acoustic guitar and a warm legato bass, setting a scene of introspective calm. The guitar's melody, adorned with subtle sound FX, tells a poignant story without words, inviting listeners into a world of reflective tranquillity.

Transitioning into the first verse, the mood remains contemplative yet gains texture. The upright bass, intertwined with an electronic sub, takes the lead, its legato tones painting a soundscape of introspection and subtlety. Here, the guitar shifts to a supporting role, its strings now weaving a background tapestry. This section is coloured by chords that evoke a jazzy feel, their complex harmonies hinting at emotional depths and unspoken narratives.

The bridge emerges as a delicate duet between guitar and piano, their interplay creating a sense of intimacy and shared secrets. This brief interlude builds gently, the chords simplifying yet deepening the emotional resonance. The addition of cello and bass strings, along with legato sax and oboe, lends a classical touch, further enriching the tapestry of sound.

As “Grill that Snapper” progresses, it gradually turns up the heat. The entrance of a straightforward, pulsing 4/4 beat marks a shift to a more vibrant, electronic landscape. Bowed violins add drama over the steady rhythm, their melodies intertwining with heavy piano chords. The juxtaposition of the electronic rhythm with the jazzy downward chord progression creates a dynamic tension, a dance between two worlds.

Reaching its climax, the track becomes an electrifying blend of filtered arpeggios and orchestral drums. The chaos of the arpeggios, set against the backdrop of a rhythmic electronic beat, paints a picture of controlled frenzy, a climax of emotional and musical intensity.

In its final act, “Grill that Snapper” returns to its acoustic origins, revisiting the serene mood of the opening verse. The outro, a mirror of the initial bridge, serves as a contemplative denouement, bringing the listener full circle. It's a conclusion that invites reflection, a moment to absorb the rich journey that has unfolded.

I wrote this arrangement for a wonderful African vocal, where I mixed traditional instruments with the possibilities of electronic music. The song is about what it's like to be separated from someone you love.

Vedic mantras use the same power that we see in cymatics in which we're able to observe how sound waves reorganise grains of sand on a metal tray. In the same way, these ancient Indian mantras enter through our ears and reorganise our brain waves and thus how we feel. 

This particular one, the Shanti mantra, is a peace mantra because when meditated upon, it brings wonderful feelings of wellbeing and so is perfect for de-stressing and encourages, in that way, our energy fields to realign, to attract good blessings and fortune. 

Don't worry about the meaning of the Sanskrit words I'm chanting. Just let them wash over you... along with APi_ZZ's gorgeously enchanting music.
