New York Counterpoint for amplified clarinet and tape, or 11 clarinets and bass clarinet (1985) is a minimalist composition written by American composer Steve Reich. The piece, intended to capture the throbbing vibrancy of Manhattan, is notable for its ability to imitate electronic sounds through acoustic instrumentation.

Soundtrack from the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (戦場のメリークリスマス), a.k.a. Furyo in Europe, directed by Nagisa Oshima, and starring David Bowie, Tom Conti, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Takeshi Kitano.

The instrument is a Kawai VPC1 controlling a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Yamaha C7 grand piano, and... straight from the 80's a sampled preset named "Touch Perco" from the Yamaha DX7 mk2 synth.
