Classic Trance Volume 5

This is the first mix of a new classic trance series where I have worked on improving my EQ and mixing techniques. I hope this new series highlights those improvements and you enjoy listening to them as much as I did putting them together.

The Definitive Classic Trance Collection (Part I)

Journeys is a mix series concept, which sees myself and a guest both deliver a 10 track warm up set and a 10 track peak time set, which are then intertwined as one comprehensive set. The concept allows guest DJs to express a personalised, diverse interpretation of trance music you’d hear both at the start and at the end of a night out at your favourite event. It also challenges me to select tracks which continue the flow of the set seamlessly and to tell a story, with the end goal of taking listeners….on a Journey

003 sees Dublin man Rob take control of the guest mixes. 
Rob is a multi-genre DJ based in Dublin, Ireland. He used the covid lockdown period to finally take the plunge and invest in  some DJ gear. Alongside Classic Trance he also regularly mixes Progressive and Techno.

After returning from a holiday to Ibiza in the summer of 1998, Antone bought his first turntables and took up DJ’ing spinning vinyl from multiple genres such as house, garage and trance.

Feeling like a fish out of water in the usual beer boy type of venue with their mainstream, chart based music policy, he yearned to hear those 4 on the floor beats once again.

After reading an article in Mixmag listing ‘20 clubs to visit before you die’, he was surprised to see one situated in Coalville, which was local to his native Leicester. That club was ‘The Emporium’ and the night was called ‘Passion’. Walking through those doors for the very first time a few weeks later changed his life forever and It was from that moment that his love for trance music grew exponentially.

Gaining inspiration from Marc West, John ‘00’ Fleming, Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold and deciding to fully focus on trance, he started handing out mix CD’s to promotors which soon saw him getting bookings to play out live on a regular basis in his local area and at nights such as Nocturnal, BabyPassion and Fixation.

DJ’ing was front and centre of Antone’s life for the next 8 years until real life and other interests got in the way. This hiatus lasted over a decade, but in all that time his love for trance music never left him. Ever since he returned and fully embraced today’s new breed of digital technology, he is once again at one with the music he loves and hopes he can take the next step to continue his career.
