I started DJing around 2007, and the sound of early 2000s progressive house has shaped my taste in more ways than I can possibly imagine. To this day, I always weave those nostalgic moments into every set that I play, as I try to create timeless dance floor moments. Faxing Berlin is a cover of the enduring hit Faxing Berlin. Having played it countless times over the years, I decided it was time to make my own interpretation of it, using the epic chord progression of the original, but with modern sound design, the result is a track that can move dance floor in a very powerful way (as Ive seen in my own sets). Taking on such a classic is no small feat, but in the end, I was able to pay my homage to it in a unique way.

Frankey & Sandrino Return to Sum Over Histories with a Disco-Pop Remix of Ede & Max Joni’s Weine Nicht Kind

Frankey & Sandrino make a striking return to their own imprint, Sum Over Histories, with a long-awaited remix of Weine Nicht Kind by Ede & Max Joni — a track originally released on Watergate Records two years ago and celebrated ever since for its emotional depth and genre-bending character.

Rooted in connection and shared experience, Weine Nicht Kind is a track that speaks to vulnerability and strength in equal measure. Its marching melody, brassy bassline, and the raw, German-spoken vocal from Max Joni channel the energy of Neue Deutsche Welle, colliding Berlin’s stark expressiveness with 80s nostalgia. The original release included a Dub Mix and Max Joni’s own remix — an Indie Dance take laced with Afro House rhythms.

Now, Frankey & Sandrino add their unique touch. Inspired from the first listen, the duo transformed the track into a shimmering, groove-laden version that leans into disco-pop with their unmistakable finesse.

“Ede originally sent me the track quite some time ago,” Sandrino recalls. “Max’s voice immediately captivated me – especially because it’s sung in German. Right away, we knew we had to try a remix. As soon as we started playing around with the vocal and the bassline, everything came together quickly and naturally. We actually made the track over two years ago – and to be honest, we like it even more now than we did back then.”

Now, after sitting with the remix and letting it mature, Frankey & Sandrino are ready to share it with the world — a testament to patience, intuition, and their evolving sound.

Their remix of Weine Nicht Kind is out on May 2nd on Sum Over Histories.

Honing his craft in LA’s clubs, iconic desert gatherings like Moontribe and Burning Man, and festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle, Further Future, and Woogie Weekend, Anton has shared stages with legends like Hernán Cattáneo, DJ Tennis, and Danny Howells. His musical curiosity is boundless, spanning the deep reaches of house and techno, abstract electronica, and everything between. If it’s innovative and boundary-pushing, it’s probably already on his radar.

Anton’s obsession with crafting unforgettable experiences led him to master the art of promotion. Armed with relentless attention to detail and an uncanny ability to spot the perfect venue, he transformed places like Long Beach’s Belmont Pier into destinations. His Subtract On The Pier residency has become a revered institution, attracting local luminaries like Doc Martin and Marques Wyatt alongside international heavyweights such as Patrice Bäumel and Max Cooper.

Not stopping there, Anton co-produces the annual Love Long Beach Festival, a cornerstone of the local scene that draws over 10,000 attendees annually. His meticulous eye for curation has turned it into a magnet for music lovers seeking both quality and community.

Subtract, the record label Anton initially started to showcase fresh talent, has since grown into a trusted name for connoisseurs of the underground. Releasing only a few, if any, carefully chosen records each year, Subtract has featured artists ranging from rising stars to luminaries like John Digweed, Stimming, and Damian Lazarus, with Anton’s unflinching commitment to quality steering the ship.

After years of perfecting the art of DJing and party production, Anton finally turned his laser focus to creating original music. With releases on prestigious labels like All Day I Dream, Sudbeat, Balance, and Endless—not to mention his own Subtract—he’s making waves with his unique voice. Recent highlights include collaborations with Hernán Cattáneo, Dave DK and Jamie Stevens, with more releases poised to showcase the results of his patient craftsmanship.
