One of our very favourite artists since the beginning, we are honoured that Cern has agreed to release his 2nd artist album with Dispatch Recordings, following on from his debut LP "Terminus” on Project 51 in 2011. 

In light of this recent announcement, this month’s Artist Mix comes courtesy of the man himeself. Cern has formed an integral part of the label in the last few years, with a range of incredible tracks, collabs and remixes. 

Packed with exclusive, never-before-heard material and available for download now, here is a taster of what’s to come in the future - no tracklist here so keep a close ear!

“Subway Musing” is a deeply atmospheric and contemplative piece that turns the hum of urban transit into a meditation on motion, solitude, and fleeting connection. It’s a song that finds poetry in the mundane — transforming the steady rhythm of a subway ride into a metaphor for thought, memory, and time in transit.

From the first bars, the track establishes a hypnotic pulse — a rhythmic undertow reminiscent of wheels on rails or the soft thrum of electricity through tunnels. Archer 23 layers this foundation with ambient textures that seem to echo off concrete walls: distant voices, metallic reverberations, and synth tones that shimmer like passing station lights. The result is immersive and cinematic, evoking both the anonymity and intimacy of city life underground.

Melodically, “Subway Musing” is reflective rather than restless. Its motifs drift in and out like thoughts between stops — fragments of melody that suggest introspection, maybe even quiet revelation. There’s a subtle melancholy here, but it’s tempered by a sense of acceptance — the realization that the journey itself, however repetitive, carries its own rhythm of meaning.

As the track progresses, Archer 23 adds layers of harmonic warmth, suggesting the glow of understanding amidst the noise. By the final fade, the listener feels both transported and still — as though the train has stopped, but the mind continues moving.  “Subway Musing” is urban introspection at its finest — a minimalist, immersive journey through the spaces between thought and motion. Archer 23 turns the everyday commute into art, reminding us that even in transit, we can find beauty in reflection.

With 400 hand stamped, signed and numbered heavyweight vinyl copies available, there is a very limited press and much like previous Dispatch Dubplates, this will never be re-pressed.

Flowrian, who hails from Switzerland, has made a name for himself with previous releases on Soul Deep, Jazzsticks, Good Looking, Flight Pattern, Fokuz and Celsius.  He returns to Soul Deep, with a solid 2 track release, that shows off his progression as a producer.  Flowrian takes his engineering to another level for his release on Soul Deep, blending sounds together to create a perfectly crafted and musical soundscape.  The title track, “Granite & Dandelions,” leads things off with it’s meticulously edited breaks, knocking percussion, squelching mid baselines, and haunting vocal samples.  The second track, “Edward the Hamster,” Is up next and features snappy drums, a laid back sub bassline, and sharp mid bass embellishments that add layers and textures to the song.  The elements create the perfect backdrop for the deep pads, and beautiful melodies that help accentuate the overall vibe of the tune.  The Granite & Dandelions EP is another wicked release for Flowrian!

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
