Featured on the second sampler for Lenzman's début LP 'Looking At The Stars'... label mate and real life mate Jubei puts his firm stamp on Lenzman’s 'Empty Promise', The original was a big track for Lenzman and Jubei has taken it by the scruff of the neck and created something all his own whilst keeping the beauty/ beast vibe of the original.

Mako has his first full outing for the Headz camp via METH XX. Meth XX is the fertile breeding ground for new Metalheadz artists that gives them a chance for to express themselves with the music they are making right now.

'Tell Me Something' was first aired by Goldie high up in the London skies for the Metalheadz X Red Bull London Eye event and instantly rewound. The track takes a creative drum pattern and edges forward with mutant bass and space age pads very much reminding of bygone Headz tracks, breaks and edits keep the track popping through its course.

Nucleus & Paradox on Metalheadz Platinum…a welcome collaboration

The title for this track is very apt, you can hear the machines working away in this track. The drums are left with all their original character- full of warmth and pop. The pads hang over the track in a threatening manner with bass tones playing off one another. An exercise in restraint as the shaker doesn’t drop till three minutes into the track along with off kilter FX and subtle percs.

Dispatch #080 brings together a taste of both the past and the present.

First up, we welcome one of the scene’s foremost legends Bailey onto the label for a rare studio outing, remixing Zero T & Script's 2010 outing "Guessing Games" to devastating effect.

Next as part of this release we present "Spectre", which is the latest to the floor hurter from current hotly tipped production duo SCAR, presented here as their second Dispatch Recordings release following last month's “Call To Arms EP”. This one's recently been picked up by Friction and aired on one of his recent BBC Radio 1 shows.

SCAR - Spectre - Dispatch 080 (CLIP) - OUT NOW

Blocks and Escher give us their debut 12” for Metalheadz, hot on the heels of the pair’s contribution to the Platinum Breakz 4 album which was called ‘Madness’. This release is the archetypical Headz sound. Blocks and Escher have an uncanny ability to capture the golden age aesthetic whilst moving head first toward the future.

‘Moods’ begins with an introspective edge, with soothing vocals and pads set against rugged breaks. The track soon morphs into a sub bass roller however the mood soon changes and the track turns into a darker affair with mentasms and mid-range basses working with and  against one another, the track is a journey through calm and storm in a way in which only Blocks and Escher could do.

From here are born their legends, heroic and tragic, of this strange pair of souls that has been flung across time. For their fate is unique and apart from any other, and so it is that these two may stand both as enemies or brothers. For every tale of these twins in which they fell some great beast, there is an equal where one does fall at the others feat. They are inseparable allies & horrible foes, cursed with this fate by a power unknown. They were, they are, and they will be again, and perhaps at this moment they call each other “friend.” Yet in their next life that same term may invoke bile, anger for the twin each so utterly reviles. Thus it is that their story may be told with one single word, that modern term FRENEMIES which is so often heard.

TOBAX summons the kindred spirits of the EATBRAIN horde with his FRENEMIES EP, which follows his 2019 EP “Seized Moment” EP and an appearance on the “Divergence II” compilation as the next part of a long collaborative history between himself and EATBRAIN. From the titular collaboration with MC KRYPTOMEDIC to the uniquely melodic 12 INCHES, FRENEMIES features four full frontal & furious Drum & Bass tracks in the style for which TOBAX is so well known.

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
