Dispatch Recordings is proud to present “Short Cuts”, an album project created by two long-term friends and favourites of the label. With numerous solo releases and their previous collaboration on the “Most Violent Year” album series, NC-17 and Dauntless will be well known to fans of Dispatch. When we were approached with new collaborative material, the “Short Cuts” project was born.

Drawing on 2000s-era DnB influences, they set out to create something tech-influenced whilst maintaining musicality and that much-needed funk. The pair found a unique creative flow that allowed their styles to gel and enhance each other’s productions.

Dauntless and NC-17 channelled the energy of those early days into an energetic and future-thinking album, citing many legends of that prolific era of drum and bass as influences. Benefitting from a modern approach to mixdown and structure, the resulting album is a varied and multi-layered representation of their shared artistic vision.

We welcome Method One to the Dispatch Recordings family, the next instalment of the Dispatch Blueprints series. This prolific producer has been writing and releasing music since the mid-90s and has been a huge part of the American d&b/jungle scene for over 30 years now. Perfectly fitting the Dispatch Blueprints ethos, these tracks are influenced heavily by his history, bringing those vibes up to date with modern d&b sensibility and production techniques.

The cinematic intro of “Skylines Fade Away” meets crisp progressive drum work with cinematic depth for a track inspired by transition, a sense of an uncertain future feeding into the pensive atmosphere.

“Clandestine” originally inspired by a string passage shared by friend and frequent collaborator Jamie Myerson, takes the listener on a journey, building and evolving through crisp percussion.

For select Dispatch releases, we’re cutting very limited runs of 10″ vinyl dubplates. Method One’s Dispatch Blueprints 009 is the first release to receive this special treatment. This first-ever run will be limited to 30 black vinyl dubplates. We hope to be able to offer future editions of this and other releases, each in limited, hand-numbered editions.

Wreckless returns to Dispatch Limited with another impressive EP. Five varied, tough tracks with serious bass lines and infectious, rolling grooves. Wreckless once again takes the listener on a journey through the soundscape of each track, covering heavier, dance-floor territory matched with his trademark atmospherics.

The title track ‘Mind, Body, Spirit’ is inspired by the Oscar Wilde quote “Everything in moderation, including moderation” which guided Wreckless’ production process. ‘Prayers for Leaders’ aims to remind us that wisdom and guidance are needed for everyone, even if we don’t agree on political views.

‘Lungs’ is a sonic experiment focusing on the breaths in between vocals, making these the focus. A reminder that the real groove is in the gaps between. On ‘Soho’ Wreckless endeavoured to keep his production as clean as possible; after hearing a friend’s tunes in a post-production studio in Soho and wanting to achieve the same results.

‘Assam’ is an exploration of the drones which feature heavily in Indian music, and takes notable inspiration from the Beatle’s output during their Revolver and Sgt. Pepper’s period. For the Dispatch exclusive track, Wreckless adds the Spirit to this EP, with a pattern inspired by the Ichthys symbol of his faith.

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
