We welcome back Brain to Dispatch Recordings for the ‘Looking Forward EP.’ Following on from the epic ‘Slow Burn EP’ from May 2021, this new EP features 5 tracks of rolling funk in his own inimitable style. 

The growling bass line of title track ‘Looking Forward’ rolls out underneath looping vocal samples, ever growing and developing as it progresses through the tune creating an epic dystopian stomper. 

The EP features a total of 4 solo productions alongside a particularly heavyweight collaboration with Dunk for the tough and rugged ‘Gonna be hard’. Fans of Brain will already know what to expect from his rich, layered technical style, if this is your first experience then you’re in for a treat.

Second single to his forthcoming debut album ‘Temp’.

“Ether came to fruition very quickly, in the course of about 2 weeks, which was the shortest writing time of all the tracks featured on the album. It’s all centered around the vocal loop which I felt set an ethereal tone. I wanted to build around this, using tonal pads, and space-like reverb to make everything sound soothing, airy and celestial. I think the result is very reminiscent of something you’d here in a space/science-fiction movie soundtrack.”

Tek Genesis is a Sydney bass fusion producer in the business of staying true to himself. Formerly known as William., the forward-thinking musician entered a brief creative hiatus to remedy his symptoms of artistic turmoil. After debugging his creative intentions, the Tek Genesis project was born.

Bound by immortal ties and borne of a time long since passed, a pair of twin souls have manifested themselves in recurring reincarnations across the history of this world. Inexorably linked, these two souls go about each of their myriad lives as they will, ignorant of the strands of fate so tightly wound between their disparate forms. Across all climes of our world they have walked, and in their many incarnations they have been both peasants and gods alike, for such is the fate of such spirits who are always destined to be. For all of their many forms, each and every time comes a subtle tug at their self woven webs, one that fills them with a yearning for something unfamiliar yet known. Thus it is that their story may be told with one single word, that modern term FRENEMIES which is so often heard.

TOBAX summons the kindred spirits of the EATBRAIN horde with his FRENEMIES EP, which follows his 2019 EP “Seized Moment” EP and an appearance on the “Divergence II” compilation as the next part of a long collaborative history between himself and EATBRAIN. From the titular collaboration with MC KRYPTOMEDIC to the uniquely melodic 12 INCHES, FRENEMIES features four full frontal & furious Drum & Bass tracks in the style for which TOBAX is so well known.

For the third instalment of the Dispatch Blueprints series, another of our favourite artists presents their unique take on the Blueprints ethos.

Continuing the theme of exploring organic musical progression, DLR delivers two exceptional tracks that perfectly capture the spirit of the label.

An idea in development for several years, ‘You Leave’ began life as a hardware-based tune. No longer using the same equipment when returning to finalise the idea, the track was rebuilt with modern emulation, combining old school inspiration with contemporary techniques.

‘Intermix’ is a stripped-back, two-step journey. Slowly developing changes progress into dynamic and unexpected directions.

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
