M-zine is back on Dispatch Recordings with the ‘Umbra EP’, a four-track release that sees this talented producer continue to reinvigorate and explore the classic era influences that make up his musical outlook.

For the title track ‘Umbra’, he focused on old school chopping techniques to breathe new life into the classic ‘Apache’ break, pairing with deep pads and bass stabs to give this nostalgic jungle infusion irresistible dynamic appeal.

Leaning on his love of techno-infused breakbeats, ‘Devise’ is pure dancefloor fun – epic horns, a driving bassline and those spacey atmospherics that keep the energy just right.

The growling bass synth of ‘Permeate’ drives this minimal stepper through a myriad of twists and sonic turns that layer new depths on every progressive bar.

‘Loon’ leads with an acid-soaked synth line that bubbles away into staccato drums, further exploring those techno influences and completing the EP with the kind of experimental rhythms M-zine fans will love.

A welcome return to the label, this is M-zine at his best.

‘H25PITAL’ embarks on a journey throughout the past, present and future of Hospital Records, featuring the likes of Dillinja, S.P.Y, Flava D, DJ Marky, Unglued, Makoto, Loxy & Ink, Mitekiss, Nookie and more. Their quarter-century birthday commemorations raise the bar once again as a variety of sounds and styles come together for a 174BPM compilation like no other.

DRS & Dynamite, two legends who have taken the scene by storm with their collaborative outfit, team up with Logistics for a new-wave remix of the 2009 heater ‘Jungle Music’. Wordsmiths by nature, DRS & Dynamite lay down carefully crafted bars paying homage to their love for jungle and its roots over Logistics’ revamped instrumental.

Stepping up for remix duties on Danny Byrd’s iconic ‘Salute (feat. MC GQ)’ is none other than the king of the amen, Remarc offering his clear cut production skill. Breaks processed to perfection and an unruly bassline are fused flawlessly with elements of the original, including the nostalgia-inducing horns and illustrious vocals of drum & bass veteran GQ.

An instantly recognisable anthem to any drum & bass fan and an undeniable staple in the Hospital Records back catalogue, ‘Beautiful Lies’ by B-Complex gets the remix treatment from L-Side who’s been making moves with the V Recordings crew. The future meets a classic as minimal bouncing drum work and ripping bass stabs instil bursts of brand new energy into the track.

Expect a collision of sonic realms in Halogenix’s remix of Kings Of The Rollers’ infamous ‘Shella (feat. Chimpo)’. Flying the flag for the Critical Music family, Halogenix’s 2021 rendition which has been generating excitement from corner to corner in the world of drum & bass for some time now unleashes an absolute growler of a bassline as Manchester’s very own Chimpo dominates the topline.

The highly sought after VIP of Metrik’s ‘Cadence (feat. Reija Lee)’ is finally seeing the light of day. Dreamlike synthesis and ravishing vocals build a picturesque soundscape which soon evolves into Metrik’s signature high-octane flow as he delivers cutting-edge dancefloor vibes.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome the legendary Universal Project to Dispatch for this debut release with us. Initially formed in 2000 as a foursome, Universal Project is now home to the musical output for just one of these producers, Ruxpin. 

Joined by original Universal Project member Geoff Taylor-Karrer for the retro sounds of 'Off The Cuff',  the first of this two-track release results from an impromptu studio session-based reunion. With new inspiration and energy flowing, the old school breaks and vocal samples provided the infectious groove and energy for this track. They originally built the tune around a recording of the pair vocalising the track title. 

'Lost in it' loops and edits the central vocal sample as it develops into a heavy bassline led roller. Written during a difficult time, Ruxpin turned to music as therapy, losing himself in the creative process - the results speak for themselves.

Ulterior Motives inaugurate their Black Label series with a fresh cut from DJ Persuasion, paired with a mind-bending remix from the mighty Digital (Function Records).

Inspired by one of the best-loved horror movies of all time, Danny ‘25 picks up where countless other hardcore renditions which sample the horror genre have left off. The lore surrounding the film which the track is based on is something of a maze in itself. Persuasion digs deep into the legacy of the film and its offshoots to provide a fitting tribute set to bulldozer bass and lightning drums.

Function Records’ owner Digital provides the remix on the flip. Digital should need no introduction — he’s been behind some of the best-loved drum & bass tracks of all time: tunes like Deadline, Down Under, and Phantom Force alongside Duncan Busto aka Spirit, who sadly passed away.
Digital rolls it out in his time-honoured fashion and takes the levels of fear and dancefloor destruction up a notch.

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
