Bredren x In Reach Guestmix (Inception Audio)

Two years have flown by since the seminal Transit One album was dropped to critical acclaim and supported so universally across the board. The up and comers from the last project have since blossomed into today’s key tastemakers, paving the way for a wave of fresh new talent.

Now Ant TC1 has revealed plans for Transit 2 - a carefully selected palette of pure, technical drum & bass from producers across the globe and the latest various artists’ compilation from the esteemed Dispatch Recordings.

With the “Transit” series Dispatch Recordings strives to showcase the most exciting new talents alongside the established label favourites.  When faced with such a vast body of music from both previous contributors and newcomers to the label, the project quickly began to take shape and they have decided now is the time was right to bring to you this second chapter. 

With a variety of tracks stretching right across the spectrum, the album reaches into a number of alternative vibes and tempos whilst maintaining Dispatch’s famed level of quality. From the cool and callous “Apparatus” of Mindmapper & Fre4knc to the colossal beast that is Survival & Silent Witness’ “Paddy” and no less than two exclusive cuts from DLR, Transit 2 provides an assortment of technical brilliance over just one album. 

Other tracks dip in and out of the dance-floor mould to provide a real contrast and depth to the project, making this complete package such an essential catalogue of future beats.  Set to drop on November 11 check out an exclusive mini-mix by DLR of the compilation to give you a flavour of what is to come...

Story 4 
After the jump
…It was shaky for 3 minutes, i thought screws were going to fall out from just about everywhere as the bill for the madness we accepted to take by entering these unknown doors, shaking like tin can with all the power and knowledge in the assembly, yet so fragile in front of enormous. And the risk we took… the type 3 black hole proven only by our lunatics back at the Hadden labs, and we…arrived safe on the other side, ship intact, no damage at all. the crew surprised again, sounds of relaxed cheering, guts back to normal pulse.…

Then this view…happened. 

On the other side of the most violent camo portal, we stepped into unexplored, to found mystic visual silence, and in the silence, we found a brother of Mars, peaceful and humble, innocent scape lived in front of our eyes. Silence on the deck, all eyes on vast of nothing, and this one tiny system in the middle, that seemed pretty old, it just wasn’t like usual stuff we get to see on far ends.  Captain is careful, portal stable, hard decisions to make. Old men with faces of kids…human innocent eternal curiosity. Deep scars on the planet showed violent past, but no explanations. …Traces of oxygen…Analysis going wild…The most expensive mission was on the brink of a retrieve procedure. Hadden protocol 21 says risk is allowed only if 75% of the crew declares risk as a valuable step. Mission is a go with the next routine. The next routine was to land on the surface of this new named M-071-0 or “Mars senior” how Brian likes to call it, and gather the usual. Procedure for two suited men under 3 surveillance systems…

Suits on, Gear testing…I’m testing my suit twice, my experience is itchy on this peaceful moment. Shuttle is ready…Mission was a go, no turning back now…time flies somehow as I’m already in the aggressive entrance but little friction, curious thoughts overflowing my mind, as we landed softly. Panic-untethering myself from the chair, I wanted to come out and touch the ground, it was in my genes to beg for real ground placebo after years in void. I was so happy, the bridge laughed. I worked 22 years and now I wish I’m a construction worker back home on Apesia. I absorbed some funny human nature, as we are all children of stars…

Task one is compact gathering on three closest checkpoints with different properties of ground and some data at least… soils and rocks, solid moisture, and seven types of bacteria that ended in boxes, which is a good find. Planet is alive, there are some pretty shiny rocks, dust is not hard granules. Beautiful soil. Felt like home again as I felt Apesia like gravity, also the Star and “senior” is similar to sun and earth ratio, perfect for life, but no one is around, except those microguys. Two checkpoints done, few jokes on the bridge as everyone is relaxed on a human level… We found more bacteria, truly wonderful...Third checkpoint was behind a canyon, hard to reach but suit exoskel helps every time, we were getting close to zone of interest marked by Brian and Mr. Terminal. Curt is always a step ahead, the bridge is beginning to doubt if we are running our missions or his transcended will. Curt or Terminal? Knowledge is dangerous and beautiful.  

The third checkpoint changed my life forever. This dream…was in front of me…

What we found below the dense sand atmo on the third checkpoint was, emotional…and…because we noticed it from a distance but at first we remained…suspicious, The closer we walked…we…this was scary…The bridge confirmed in a brief “this is more then we can understand”, but my knees started shaking while we stood instantly sending 20 snapshots to the bridge. Curt speaks out of Terminal, as the human in him is overwhelmed by this visual feed. Statue dating, beyond our Terminal ability to simplify to humans…He speaks about thousands of eons, this is not even a history anymore. This dream 23 year  dream unparallel occurring during my life…the rectangular vessel landing on earth taking me home, warm welcoming by this tall red being with a smile. The transparent front cabin like floating in space. Sitting on a ground in a dark interior…but this being from my dreams, has its statue…here, in front of me, on this planet. 

Terminal concludes, it’s not hollow, no entrances therefor it’s not a tower, nor a temple, but rather filled with unknown materials. In a random geometrical manners, no orders known to science…I’m not listening anymore, my ears are filled with low tones yet pulse is normal, it is getting louder. Laura hits me on the shoulder, I’m back…

Then this Vibration of Brass like sound the size of a planet shook the ground beneath our legs, rocks falling, Brian screaming at us to retreat leave it all, Laura running to startup the engines I’m standing still watching the colossus…the planet rotated 20 degrees to the right in 3 seconds as it is a vessel , aligned to a star…and the colossus was…it moved…I…I am somewhere else now…

This is what happens when I get really really angry at some people... I make a song about it. Hahaha. First time trying to manually add the drums and bass so it's really kinda sort of super pathetic. Nevertheless, enjoy!

Heist & Pleasure - FABRICLIVE x Playaz Promo Mix

Skeptical will be opening the Exit Records 2015 release schedule on 19th January with a 4 track 12" EP. Believe it or not, this is Skeptical's debut solo release on Exit, with previous contributions consisting of his monster collaboration with Dub Phizix and Strategy, the mighty Marka, as well as individual tracks on the Mosaic series 1 and 2.
 
The EP features the percussive roller and title track 'Imperial', which has been taking dance floors deep into the jungle over the last few months in typical Skeptical fashion. As usual with his tracks this is not laptop music. Sub bass is essential to appreciate the full production qualities and the whole EP demonstrates his power to achieve the utmost with the very minimum.

Deathmachine’s love for hard dark mechanical music started way back in the early 90’s where his imagination was captured by the then relatively young hardcore scene. He attended many of the big UK raves over the following years and became addicted to the new sound that had arrived.

To further connect with the music, he started DJing in 1998 and over the following years began carving a unique sound for himself. Always dancefloor oriented, but with an experimental edge, his sets earned him bookings from all the major promotors across the UK.

A few years later and now a respected name on the UK DJ circuit, he took it to the next level. In 2001, he began producing, aiming to capture energy and rawness along with the continuing dark vibe. Since then, he has released on some of the worlds most respected industrial hardcore labels such as Deathchant, Rebelscum and Pacemaker and played at many major events across Europe.

In 2009, his productions evolved with the emergence of the Crossbreed/Hybrid style. Combining Hardcore with D'n'B gave new inspiration, and soon Deathmachine found this was a natural progression to his sound. With releases on the genre-defining Genosha One Seven Five and Union Recordings, Deathmachine is established as one of the leading producers in this new style.

After winning the ‘Best Newcomer Producer’ at last year’s Drum & Bass Awards, all eyes have been [rightly] fixed on Frankee and his output. His All Four One EP for the juggernaut that is Ram Records placated a lot of people with it’s four tracks of his stylized, tough nut production, but since February he’s been a little quiet – a reason we’re so amped up to be able to present the world with this fresh mixtape. Made in anticipation of Frankee’s imminent return to Farringdon on 17th June, he was pretty openly keen for us to publish it as soon as possible so you guys could hear the dubplates and exclusive bits it contains first. Obviously we were only too happy to oblige so here, here’s Frankee’s latest 47 minute mix.

Let's not beat around the bush. Anyone who knows anything knows that this album is going to be big. It's absolutely clear Jay and Dev have put the graft in over the last decade to claim and maintain their D&B-elite status. For one thing, production mastermind Jay has put in the studio hours to hone that distinctive, arena-sized Tantrum Desire sound. And, as DJs, they've proven their ability to take that sound into the real world and make it connect with the biggest crowds bass-heavy music has to offer. There are a handful of acts that can simultaneously kill it in the underground and the mainstream, and we're about to find out why Tantrum Desire is one of them.

But this album isn't all about the big ticket items. It's not just a collection of singles, but a cohesive vision, a journey mapped by a pair of DJs and producers immersed in the music. This is made clear right from the beginning, with the drumless title track setting out the template of movement between vibes and styles. Delving deep, there's “Goddess of Love”, with its unapologetically constant level of tension, reiterated and reinforced by ever-changing sample-manipulation. And there's “Back for Love”, featuring Julie Gordon and Smokesta, an almost lo-fi excursion, which takes tropes from trip-hop and the Bristol Sound to create something that's sure to strike a chord with old skool junglists.

Let's be clear, though. These are just some of the things “Diversified” has to offer. There are sixteen tracks here which, together, crystallise the multiple, complex layers of Tantrum Desire's take on bass-led electronic dance music in 2015. The joy for DJs, ravers and listeners alike is going to be discovering those layers for themselves. So go discover.

Atik - Middle Age Zombie Apocalypse

The next episode in the Bassic mix series comes from Cern, a producer who has constantly impressed over the years with releases on labels such as Dispatch, Renegade Hardware, Samurai Music, Project 51 and many more.

Since the release of his second studio album late last year Cern has been busy working on new material, the first of which will be unleashed very soon as part of the Dispatch Dubplate series. The release includes fresh VIP’s of the much loved tunes ‘Hollow Moon’ and ‘Tiamat’ as well as a heavy collaboration with Mayhem that will most likely please fans of Cern’s older releases.

Other music in the works includes a feature on the upcoming DBR UK album, a couple of collaborations with Gerra & Stone and MC Fokus and a release for C4C Recordings. Cern has also recently joined the Sample Genie family, with the first pack out now over at www.sample-genie.co.uk

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
