After the success of "All Night Brotherhood", Art Of Tones is back with a brand new EP on his own PALP imprint.
"Crazay" is the main track here, where Art Of Tones delivers once again his unique sound signature. Evolving around a funky bassline and classy guitar licks, and with its familiar, soulful vocal snippets, the track has an usual, slightly aggressive colour that makes it sound truly different from the usual disco tunes heard here and there.

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Heist Recordings and as always, we kick off the year with our Round up where each artist of the last year remixes another artist. We’ve had an all-star cast in 2022 with Crackazat, Byron the Aquarius, Dam Swindle, Orlando Voorn, Nebraska and Makèz, so the anticipation for this year’s Round Up was huge. 

We’ve had Byron the Aquarius remix one of Dam Swindle’s ‘Keep on Swindling’ hits ‘Good Woman’ and turn that afro dancefloor monster into a typical deep and vibey affair that Byron does so well. Crackazat has taken Orlando Voorn’s wonky soul track ‘Be with you’ into a peak time summer anthem, while Nebraska has poured some of his boom-bap disco sauce on Byron the Aquarius classic spoken word song ‘Succes’ Makèz go for an uptempo version of Nebraska’s Chant des Oiseaux that lies somewhere between discofied house and gloriously upbeat tech-house. Dam Swindle take a disco-meets techno approach to Crackazat 2022 hit Demucha and Orlando Voorn turns ‘La grande folie’ by Makèz into a Midwest cosmic jazz jam.

James emerged as a prominent figure on the scene in 2009. His debut track, "She's Gone," (James-johnston – Shes-gone-45-edit-256) swiftly climbed to the top of Soundcloud's "Most Popular Deep House Tracks Of All Time" chart, catching the attention of Kolour Recordings' offshoot ‘Undertones.' The highly acclaimed 'Honesty EP' followed soon after.
James constantly delivered high quality grooves for subsequent releases on esteemed underground house labels like 4lux, Wilson, 124 Recordings, Brother's Vibe's Mixx Records, Snazzy Trax, Dikso, and Washerman's Deep Down Slam. He has also had the honour of remixing the legendary Robert Owens twice!
In 2016 James co-founded the ‘No Matter What' label alongside fellow house producer Alex Agore. The label's debut release became an instant hit, with James's track, ‘I Know It's Not Time' storming into the top 10 of the most charted tracks by other DJs on Resident Advisor. Their subsequent releases soared to the top of the Juno vinyl House Chart, cementing their reputation for excellence.

James ‘Harri’ Harrigan and Max Raskin are Glasgow duo Manakinz.

The former is synonymous with Glasgow’s monumental Sub Club and his multi-storied Saturday night residency that’s been going strong for 33 years,‘Subculture’, alongside his long-time partner and fellow Glasgow legend, Domenic Cappello. Harrigan has put out a long list of releases as The Pa Pa Washington Trio, Daddy’s Favourite, H Foundation, DJ Harri & The Revenge, and Burnt Island Casuals.

Max started DJing in Glasgow clubs in 2006. He was resident at the legendary Sunday Circus for 9 fun-filled years, earning himself a solid reputation among heads as one of the city’s most thrilling and innovative players. He’s released on Sensu, Esa’s Rememory Music, La Dune, Posterboy, Lyceum Social Club and Huntleys & Palmers Clyde Built Compilation Series.

Initially Harri and Max were just sending out tracks to friends in the know, but when Weatherall phoned Harri to say he was loving the music, they stepped things up and have since put out on Jacques Renault’s Let’s Play House, Future Boogie, Monologues, Refuge and Mitchell Street. With projects in the pipeline with Jasper James (Harri’s son) and for Ashley Beedle and Jo Wallace's F*CLR, there’s plenty of quality to come in 24.

Manakinz have put together this maxi EP as the first release on their label, MODEL CITIZENZ, comprised of eight cuts that range from heady Alfos chug, via deep down dubby disco, to Detroit-tinged basement filth.
