Audio Soul Project is back with their latest vinyl-only EP, Simurgh. With a title inspired by the mythical Persian bird, these four tracks fuse elements of house, R&B, dub, and drum & bass to create an ecstatic and hypnotic experience. The EP kicks off with "Deliver Me," a dreamy house track with warm filtered chords and bouncing synth bass. R&B female vocal ad libs pepper the groove and the refrain "Deliver Me" adds a sense of yearning. The percussion, including morphing 4x4 and breakbeat drums, piano and synth stabs, nod to the cerebral Detroit and Chicago house compositions of the mid 90s.

'Closing The Chapter' is the second single announcing drummer and composer Peter Gall’s upcoming album 'Love Avatar', to be released by Compost Records on 27th of September ’24. The nostalgic 'Closing The Chapter' is actually the prototype of a love song and, according to Gall, perhaps the most emotional and personal piece on the album, which he put down on paper at the very last minute. "When I listened to it again alone in the studio late at night, the guys' solos brought tears to my eyes," he says, so moved by his colleagues' interpretations. From Matthias Pichler's lyrical bass solo to Rainer Böhm's masterfully sparkling grand piano, the journey reaches its climax in Wanja Slavin's synth eruption, before the perfect soundtrack for a wanderlust road trip with captivating guitar comping and mantric beat suddenly transforms into an absolute trance state - beautifully colored by Wanja Slavin's live synth jam.

We’ve been huge fans of Pacific Coliseum for a long time, so we’re very proud to present an EP with him on SB and who better to introduce the release than the man from Vancouver himself... 'After four years, it feels amazing to return to my Pacific Coliseum project with the Breeze FM EP. This record came together in a really beautiful, collaborative way, between myself and the SlothBoogie crew. I sent over a handful of demos, and together we compiled and developed this record, which feels both fresh and true to the sound of my previous releases. I wanted to have the record bounce around a bit in terms of tempos and feels: Wine Host has a nice sunset, downtempo feel; Breeze FM taps into a deeper, jazzier sound; Feel Free is a peak time Italo jam. Something for everyone! The whole thing is rounded off with Tech Support’s remix of Feel Free, which re-imagines the tune as an electro stomper. I’ve got a lot planned for this project in the year to come, and this feels like the perfect way to reintroduce myself to people.'

PREMIERE: Pacific Coliseum - Breeze FM [SlothBoogie]

Sean McCabe’s Good Vibrations Music opens the vault for a peek inside some of its closely guarded and much-loved releases courtesy of this limited edition 12 inch. Featuring four new to vinyl releases and including a whole host of luminaries from across the soulful spectrum, this is sure to be a be a hot fave with long standing lovers of the label.

Glenn Underground’s jazz-funk fueled rework of 'This Place' kicks off and needs no introduction.  Heavily supported and much loved throughout soulful circles and beyond with Louie Vega, Dave Lee, Jimpster, Jamie 3:26 and Fred Everything all loudly banging the drum, people have been clamoring for this to be on vinyl and the label listened.  Up next is 'Modulate', a collaborative force of the highest order between Sean and long-time friend Black Sonix. Blurring the lines through deep, soulful, and house is somewhat of a specialty for the duo and there’s bags of all three flavours throughout alongside a hefty sprinkling of sun-kissed, Latino-inspired pianos.

On the B is 'Still Standing Here' that began in March ‘22 when vocalist Madeeha recorded an acapella in a phone message, quietly singing to avoid waking the neighbours. She sent the idea to drum & bass producer from Bristol, DJ Mixjah, who then approached Sean McCabe with the idea. Together they produced a hypnotic, afro-tinged, soulful backing track to fit the voice note, with an intention to re-record it in a studio environment. Sean and Mixjah soon realized what they had created blended perfectly with the sincerity, intimacy and rawness of Madeeha's heartfelt performance in the original and decided to stick with it. A firm fave for Atjazz, Crackazat , DJ Spen and Emmaculate. 

Closing out with 'You Don’t Know', a slick and energetic dancefloor bubbler from London based David Bailey and Canadian songstress MissFly. Bailey is a firm favourite amongst the London house music community, he’s produced standout releases on Idris Elba's 7wallace, Makin Moves, Good Vibrations Music, Rhemi Music and Unquantize. MissFly is known for her soulful serenades and ability to write songs 'on the fly'. She has carved out an impressive discography with soulful house nuggets like '1972,' 'Wanna Love You' and 'Thankful'.

Born at the turn of the century, Ray carted his gramophone from venue to venue playing music in exchange for rum and gruel. Fast forward 100 years and not much has changed. Along with DJing, he has been known to put on parties, knock out a few beats and review / test questionable food stuffs.

Ray hopes this mix transports you to sitting on benches outside a bar in Berlin. It's late but people are making their way to the clubs and some are making their way home. You've spent all day at the lake and things are just picking up. The drinks are cold and then night is warm and this is the music in the background...the perfect soundtrack.
