Apukuna - Live Remixing Microdose 01 (Sharing the Vibe 3rd Anniversary Set)

This set is dear to my heart. Born from an invitation to play an Ecstatic Dance retreat in Costa Rica called "Heart of the Jungle", it incorporates many of the tropical sounds that have always moved me beyond reason from my youth in Brazil and I imagine lifetimes beyond.  It's a true "ecstatic wave". A delight to create and play, and because I was deep in the jungle the first time I played it, I could not record it.  Luckily I have an awesome community in the Portland Ecstatic Dance scene, and was able to modify and play this set again to a dancefloor so PUMPED I love this set even more now.  The joy in the room was so palpable! I've never felt so fed by playing a set.  I guess my love came through on this one. ;)
This is the live recording.  It's got a few li'l wobbles... but it feels important to share it exactly how it was transmitted (perfectly!) that day. <3

This song has been sung in circles for years now since it was received some 7 years ago.. I started recording it 4 years ago and it certainly took its time to be born.. it was such an interesting and revealing process to see how recordings of some years ago (the acordeón and drums for example ) mixing with new vocals and bass takes.. 
It’s an important song to us, bringing the cry for awaking to our full potential as children of this magical universe. I hope it brings you joy and courage ! As the first track of my new album to be released and one to follow every new moon , I’m happy that this message is the first to go in.. God knows we need it.

Might just be the most involved dancefloor journey to have emerged from the @apukuna sound! What a magical evening. There was barely a moment where 4 decks weren't all flowing at once and it was a true highlight to introduce Richie Hawtin's Plastikman to the medicine icaros of Shipibo maestros and Ape Chimba!!! Plastikman's Kriket (1994) was a formative sound for me and this live remix helps tell some of that story of my journey since then. Holding the Dance Wave together was my first live collaboration with Blutopia (@blutopian) who brought his synths, flute and guitar to help open and close the journey and fill the interludes. To all of you on the dancefloor... BIG LOVE for joining me on the journey! Offered to you as a meditation, a movement, and a prayer for an awakening heart. 💓

Soooooo MUCH LOVE to the dancefloor who nourished what became of this set. The collective vibe from the dancefloor makes what's found in this live recording impossible to reproduce in a studio! Found my happy place at 1300m on the side of Babadağ - a magnificent mountain rising out of the Mediterranean in Turkey. 'Apukuna' is a Quechua word for mountain spirits so sharing this dancefloor journey on the side of a mountain was exactly where I wanted to be. This evening set included live percussion and vocals and a whole lot of dancefloor fun. Big love to the community that came together at Beyond Music & Arts Festival. "Apukuna" is a Quechua word meaning 'mountain spirits'. Following an apprenticeship into Andean cosmology, I chose the name to honor the people, the wisdom, and to invite deeper appreciation for their sacred relationship to land, mountains and the unseen. This relationship is available to all of us who walk this earth and is where much of my musical inspiration emerges."
