Where to Now? are proud to present the debut LP from Peru based and born Areliz Ramos. ‘Frio’ seeks to explore the common reality of isolation and melancholy which exists when stepping away from our roots towards a solo global exploration of culture and place. Recorded between spells in London, Berlin, and Lima, 'Frio’ attempts to soak up experimental & electronic subcultural scenes within these environments, resulting in a body of work which seeks to connect, longs to feel, and yearns to regain a sense of belonging.

Previously recording under the moniker ‘Milkshlk’ (Female Pressure, Napp), Areliz’s sound shuffles all over the place - from occupying the same deep haze, ethereal, smudged, and downtempo space championed by the likes of Boards of Canada, Odd Nosdam, Seefeel etc, to carrying an unassuming boom bap sensibility and confidence at times, to stepping back and opening widely to experimentation, extended field recordings and tonal subtleties.

The LP begins with title track ‘Frio’, an orchestral and meditative movement in which inaudible, hushed conversations flicker in and out of focus, before the playful piano samples of ‘This Track Is For You’ swing into motion, with a prolonged sampling of a loving ‘pep talk’ from father to daughter welcoming jazzwise flutters...  more

Something fron the new @arelizramos album on Mappa then something from SHROUD OF FEAR II by O$VMV$M, followed by the B-side of the latest Muslimgauzer on Staalplat. NGL had some studio issues with the monitor speakers so these first three tracks were all selected in the headphones then dropped a long Mammo from his @shortspanrecords release whilst I figured out what the issue was. Shouts to Miro for rescuing the day!!! Obviously this was a stylistic curveball towards dubby, technoey 4/4 stuff earlier than I had planned so went with it for a bit with some Aybee, a new Semtek track coming on @dontbeafraid, some classic Stress from Maurice Fulton and a somewhat haphazard choice of Dettmann remixing/editing Junior Boys from that recent Running Back compilation.... Enough of that mate so took a left turn into the new KE7 45 from Winos then some Demdike Stare and Cherrystones business which set the tone for a forthcoming Tuta Ta track on @long-gone-dublin-london which mixes really well with Sex Life from Tracey. I thought the mad new Mezey on Future Times would also blend nicely with Tracey but this is a bit chaotic tbf… Then the new James Massiah meets Lord Tusk on @a_m_radio followed by an old Lord Tusk pressure cut which blended nicely into this killer Avon Blume track on MAL Recordings’ PRESSURE (II) [would love a third volume of this series btw] A classic meandyou v/a from Sensu then Piezo and Chester Giles setting the tone for some nice 90bpm sounds from the F7 triple pack on Acting Press, a 33 10 3402 track from the Japanese import edition of the final Discos Capablanca release, another 33 10 3402 gem, something from the excellent new Sebastiano Carghini album on @bert2bert's topo2 label, a recent dresvn on SUED, something from the new Rali Pabs album on Weirdo Inc Rec and then all of one side of A Visiting Link played at the wrong speed.
