PREMIERE: Adhémar - Floating Rainforest [Profundo Collective]

The third release on Lola Haro’s Small Steps label from Belgium sees German producer DJ Balduin step up with a contribution that embodies the label's sound. Known for his intricate, warm house basslines, clever loops, and breaks, DJ Balduin delivers a three-track EP, Everything, capturing the fleeting magic when light meets dark. Out on Valentine’s Day, 14th February, the release includes the track Somar and will be available in digital and vinyl formats via Bandcamp.

The EP is all about mood and movement. In Somar, DJ Balduin plays with a mixture of rising and melancholic pads, including distant bird chatter and playful loops. A punchy beginning, the tracks mellow into moments of bliss, offering warmth throughout. The interplay of light and dark is palpable and emotive, evoking euphoria reminiscent of sunrise sets at festivals—those moments that shift the tempo and prepare us for another day of dancing.

Small Steps and DJ Balduin captures these intangible moments with its sound: the eye contact on the dancefloor, subtle smiles, and the pull of the kick drum as we sway.

If you are into psychedelic and adventurous electronica, you'll love So Oishi's second EP for the Dutch record label SoHaSo. Herbology is a five-part trip where acoustic and electronic elements merge in slow motion. On his last record, The Lithospere EP, Japanese producer So Oishi showed off his skills in a variety of styles. But this time, Oishi keeps things slow and dreamy for most of the ride. 

The opening track, The Opposite Shore, has a Heart of Darkness-kinda vibe, with strange noises emerging from the river banks somewhere deep in the jungle. On Canopy Rites, we've seem to have reached an African village, judging by the tribal rhythms coming from the shacks ashore. 

Next up is Artemis, the only proper club track on this otherwise intimate EP. With its kick drums and howling bass, it reminds us of early Underworld productions. It’s a surprising center piece on Herbology. With Sinking and Herbology we're back in chill out territories, where acoustic instruments like tablas and flutes float harmonically with electronic soundscapes. 

Japanese producer https://soundcloud.com/sooishi has carved out his little safe space on planet SoHaSo and we rather like it there. We hope you do too.

A fragment from a larger set, Ramtarr was captured in that fragile moment when the light fades and sound begins to take over everything. Everything settles slowly, and tension weaves itself between impatience and surrender, a suspended instant where the audience and the music are still learning to recognize one another. A living matter, fluid and vibrant, born from sharing and from the fall of night. The first part of the set leans toward an electronic energy, between dense textures and physical pulses. Slowly, trance emerges, gliding in like a slow tide until it wraps the space in a hypnotic warmth.
