Arma returns to the label with his first official 1Forty release after making a splash on his debut with the ‘If It’s Nice Flip It Twice VIP’ at the end of 2021, following in the steps of Jammz & Jack Dat by sampling French Montana’s Shot Caller. This time he returns with an original track being solely responsible for the funky flavours on this series of FNG with a melodic and bass driven number ‘Sequences’.

Arma, the 27 year old producer based in London started producing and DJ’ing in 2009 which is clear to hear in the quality of his output and the labels he’s released on. Taking a mass of inspiration from late 90s House, R&B and Hip Hop for sampling, combined with his influence from key pioneers in Bass music, Redlight, My Nu Leng, Notion and Jamz Supernova it’s no surprise to learn his release on Redlight’s Lobster Boy imprint in 2019 was his best accolade to date. 2015 saw ‘Vex’ picked up by Monki for Fabriclive 81 and an appearance on LA based label Juke Bounce Werk further bolstered his reputation seeing him pick up shows across the UK. From club level at the likes of Soup Kitchen (Manchester) to festival level at the likes of Southbeats (Kent) before the challenge of COVID shackled the music industry and its habitants in 2020.

When most struggled for inspiration and productivity Arma embraced the challenge with a string of self releases taking advantage of Bandcamps focus on supporting artists via ‘Bandcamp Days’ throughout the pandemic building up his discography with high calibre originals and edits which he’s now reaping the rewards seeing bookings come in himself around London as well as Notion getting behind his releases consistently in particular at his club shows and festivals alike, as well as his latest mix for Dummy Magazine.

Following on from the huge success of Compute Riddim w/ Killa P & Badness we had to get 9TRANE back on board for 1FGRM002 with his newest track for us entitled ‘Assault’ which came out March 5th and was supported by Toddla T on BBC Radio 1. Appletize is the follow up single from this release as a free download. Initially a dub for the 140 maestro's sets, the reaction the bootleg of this UK Funky classic had was huge so we thought we should give it away for the masses to enjoy. Yet more support coming from Toddla T (BBC Radio 1) as well as Marcus Nasty (Rinse FM), Travis T (Radar Radio), Benteki (Reprezent) & Shapes to name a few.

Since his last release with us in June 2017 he’s continued to supply DJ’s with the heat with further plays across Radar Radio, BBC 1Xtra & Reprezent Radio. The Norwich producer has also had another release entitled ‘Skeleton’ on the south coast’s critically acclaimed Southpoint. Having performed at one of the largest underground festivals of 2017, ‘Trajections Festival’ (Bristol) he heated up the dance for the likes of Jammz, Big Zuu & Jack Dat which lead to further bookings back home alongside Champion & Murlo. He also joined us for the 1st time in Leeds at our takeover for UP4 at Mint Warehouse in November.

The start of 2018 see’s 9TRANE back in the 1Forty realms despite discovering his love for UK Funky which you may see an original release of from him on the Label later this year..

Articulate Sound are a midlands based, digital label that are at the forefront of the UK underground bass scene. Set out to give undiscovered, upcoming artists a platform and foundation to showcase their talent, and to look for individual styles and sounds you won’t hear anywhere else. Articulate specialise in UK Bass, UK Funky and Breaks however covering all spectrums of the scene, from Bassline to Grime they have it covered.

Founded in 2015 as a promotional Soundcloud channel, they then went on to release a succession of free compilations, featuring artists from all over the world such as Landis LaPace and Cellardore to name a few. In the closing months of 2016, they then took it a step further and released a huge joint collaboration with renowned promoter, distributor and publisher Pack London. Although only being a free channel, Articulate Sounds releases have received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse, Represent and Radar amongst many others.

Along with releasing over 140 tracks for over 70 different artists, Articulate Sound have now also launched their own events, showcasing their extensive roster and some of the best upcoming artists in the underground scene, with TC4, Darkzy and Murder He Wrote headlining thus far.

In 2017, Articulate grew even stronger, hitting number 1 in the UKG and Breakbeat charts with their debut official release by Daze Prism, receiving support from the likes of My Nu Leng, DJ EJ and many others and even getting called “one of the most consistent curator channels in modern broken and bass music” by Juno Download. Articulate then went onto hit number 1 again for Doc Zee’s debut release “Feel Free”, which has since been featured in the likes of DJMag and Dummy. Finishing off 2017 Articulate released their final EP of the year titled “PINK GUN” by Ivo and went onto be called “One of our standout labels of 2017 for a top draw project” by Juno Download themselves. 2018 has been no calmer for Articulate, already releasing Spectrum’s debut single “Resonate” in January aswell as having releases lined up for the next 12 months that are sure to cook up a storm, it’s fair to say Articulate are not a label to sleep on.
