The heart and soul of Jamie Stevens' extensive body of work is his desire to deliver an individual experience, as he takes us on an excursion into the human psyche with each masterpiece. There are only a small number of composers within the electronic music realm that diligently share the same consistency, quality and humble nature of Jamie. This is Jamie's key attribute that will continue to be the center-point of his growth as he confidently remains a major contributor, and role model, to the house and techno community on a global scale.

Through two decades of countless offerings to the electronica world, two ARIA awards (with band members of Australian live act Infusion, whom are responsible for hit releases such as "Girls Can Be Cruel", "Natural" and "Better World”), collaborations and remixes with the world's most revered artists, performing on the grandest of all stages (Womb [Tokyo], Fabric [London] and other venues in places as far-flung as New York, Singapore, Moscow, Copenhagen and Taipei), Jamie’s most recent EP releases are a true indication that Mr Stevens has matured into a sophisticated artist with depth and consistency. Stevens' hugely successful 2013 release on microCastle, "The Wonder of You”, is best described by the label: "This is a production that comes from heart.” To really put the nature of this track into perspective, Guy J gives full respect to Jamie’s musical offering, describing the track as “one of the greatest musical pieces of all time”.

His follow up release on microCastle ("The Healing" EP released in 2015) has enjoyed global success and support from a diverse range of artists such as Lee Burridge, Joris Voorn, Hernan Cattaneo and Sasha. Charted at #2 in Beatport's Electronica chart and #7 in the overall Top 100, the EP, which includes Guy J’s remix of “My Tears Don’t Help Me”, is stunningly well-rounded and lends you the full listening experience. These releases are some of Stevens' best work to date and his DJ performances of recent times have shared the same notoriety.

Recent releases and projects include remixes for Guy J's "Lost & Found" label, Jeremy Olander's "Vivrant", a new original track for Dale Middleton's "Tarnished Tracks", an EP for "Crossfrontier Audio” (along with being a key contributor to the label’s new "Mentor Initiative”, which helping shape the local Australian artist talent, truly assisting in developing the countries house and techno young promising producers and composers) plus slowly working away on an album for microCastle.

Sinchi & Friends 47 is @facets-music .  A well respected DJ /Promoter in the New York electronic scene and now founder / label boss of the exciting label @samorecords, which will soon celebrate its 3rd release. Get to know more about him, his and the label's plans for the coming year in the below interview.

1) Who are you?

I am a DJ/producer based out of New York. I run a label called Samo Records and am also a promoter/curator for glitterballnyc and Samo Nights. 

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

There have been a lot of great highlights in the past year, including launching Samo Records and putting out two releases so far (the first by Pixelife and second from Tunnel Signs). 

I've also played some amazing parties alongside John Talabot, Lindstrom, Joakim, Zombies in Miami, Daniele Cosmo, Local Suicide and Lee Douglas in clubs like Belgrade’s 20/44 and, most recently, Mexico City’s M.N. Roy and MONO. Other highlights included booking the likes of Black Merlin, Manfredas, Antoni Maiovvi, Sharif Laffrey, In Flagranti’s Sasa, Sneaker DJ, Mijo, Naduve, and Jex Opolis, many of who played with me at Greenpoint, Brooklyn's awesome Good Room, which has felt like home for some time now. 

Last but not least, I started a new party series associated with the label called Samo Nights, which has included some of the artists just mentioned. 

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

I am working more on the label -- the next release is a new project called Russian Chandeliers by Julian from Pink Skull and Niko a.k.a. Quell/ Fringe Society. The following one will come from Chase Smith; both releases will include some incredible remixers. 

I did a remix for the second Samo EP for Tunnel Signs' "Ultraviolet", which is featured in the mix and will come out digitally at the end of September. 

Gigwise, I'll be playing in London with Vercetti Technicolor and Tronik Youth for a Nein x Samo night on 23 September, followed by a gig in Barcelona on the 28th at Casa Gracia with Asaf Samuel. Also, I have some things coming up with MR TC, Ziggy (Bahnsteig 23) and some soon-to-be-announced acts this fall in NYC.

@LaBelleRecords continue to serve up no-frills, macho machine sounds with this new EP from @RoeDeers & @Cursesforever featuring a remix from the excellent @Jonathan-Kusuma 

Roe Deers is a Lithuanian-based audio-visual project by Liudas and Oskaras, two close friends who have released on the likes of Magic Feet, Omnidisc and Nein Records. Whilst Curses is the dark and romantic moniker of New York City native Luca Venezia who mixes Italo, electronic music and rock and roll into thrilling new sounds. 

“'Fade Away’ is an anthem against prejudice, as it’s time we all fade into one and get lost together in the party” he says. Roe Deers, meanwhile, recounts that they made the music on a sunny day with lots of long and live guitar takes. Luca creating the vocals in one take by singing into a digital delay and stomp box through an old cycling 74 max patch.

Indonesian producer Jonathan Kusuma is co-founder of space.rec and Akamandy Records and reworks ‘Fade Away’ into a prowling and low slung groover. It’s menacing and dark, with fat bass and smeared synths bringing real tension and a psyched-out feel.

Repping the Sydney music scene for well over a decade, Tim Butler unleashed his new project, Special Circumstances late 2017.

Previously producing under the alias ‘Boot’ as a Dubstep producer, Tim has since shifted his style towards the deep, cerebral and hypnotic sounds of Grey Area.

Regimented but never formulaic, Special Circumstances pushes the envelope, often challenging what’s possible outside of the realm of cookie-cutter electronic music. Intricate polyrhythms, dark atmospherics and otherworldly synth programming form the bedrock of Special Circumstances' musical manifesto.

Above all, the juxtaposition of eerie, haunting moods and dance floor vibes is one that few know how to pull off, and we at Construct are fortunate enough to feature one of Sydney’s finest masters of the dark for our debut Constructions mix.
