Started in October 2006 by Steve Lawler, VIVa Music began life as a conduit for the internationally renowned DJ and Producer to release the wealth of underground music he encountered on his travels. Now, just a few years later VIVa is a self-contained hotbed for new talent which draws attention from DJs, punters and producers alike. Having previously handled the now-classic and traditional vinyl label Harlem Records, Lawler decided VIVa was to be a forward thinking outlet for quality music and boldly announced that VIVa was to be digital only. As well as a clear mission to look towards the future of the music industry, this was a step to ensure that music could be released quickly and retain the freshness that the labels A&R was struck by. Far from the template set out by many of Lawler's contemporaries, VIVa quickly established itself as a label where artists could be themselves and write music that isn't defined by just A&R, but by one simple guideline: Quality. This has meant the label has gone on to release music from a wide range artists, from major players like Lawler and Audiofly through to burgeoning talent like Livio & Roby and Nicole Moudaber. In keeping with an ever evolving outlook, 2009 will see VIVa further transformed. Worldwide tour nights, Festival Arena, International Residency's and a new UK based residency at the legendary Ministry of Sound in London are just the tip of the iceberg. Always ones to buck trends, the VIVa family are pressing vinyl again alongside it's digital output as well as expanding its roster of relatively unknown talent rather than rely on the tried and tested. At the forefront of this exclusive roster of talent are the likes of Vrajitoroo, David Pher, Dragosh, Adroid Cartel, Jimmy Hill, Alex Tepper, TRNNSTR, Darius Syrossian & NYRA, Erphun and Sean Miller but VIVa will continue to work with what it considers extended family for both releases as well as remixes; which means the likes of Jamie Jones, Audiofly, Simon Baker, Tiefschwarz, Bearweasel, David Durango and many, many more. A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari. There have also been carefully considered forays into thriving house music scenes in Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Croatia and India: dedicated compilations and EPs have highlighted those region's most exciting new talents and given them a global platform. 

The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal. It was true in 2002, and it will be true in 2025 and beyond.

For more than the last decade, Ron Flatter has been enriching the house and techno landscape with his own direct and energetic productions and warm, groove-driven DJ sets. Initially the young German was a keen skateboarder and hip hop fan, but the lure of dance music soon pulled him in and he has never looked back since. 

Over the years he has turned out a high number of consistently excellent and innovative tracks that are filled with unique sound design, fresh melodies and plenty of dance floor drive. He has done so on labels like Pour La Vie, Still vor Talent and Traum Schallplatten, always evolving with each new release and exploring fresh new ground. Plenty of taste making talents ardor the world have all played his productions in the past, and recent cuts like “Stupid World” and “Desert” have taken DJs by storm: they combine heavy drums with light, emotive pianos and well-timed breaks that thrill and surprise just when you least expect.

As a DJ, too, Ron is a skilled selector who knows exactly what to drop and when to drop it. He has played in every major club and festival in Europe in the last decade and holds down a key residency in his hometown of Halle (Saale), Germany. It is there that he likes to interact with crowds, read their needs and play to their passions, mixing up deep house and techno and plenty in between. 

After more than 26 EPs and singles, a fine 2011 full length in Growth Rings that really showcased the breadth of his style and more than 50 remixes, all of which have seen Ron put his special stamp on a cultured selection of sounds, Ron Flatter is well and truly a global electronic player who wins big with each and every project. Always releasing and headlining on a regular basis, Ron Flatter’s beats are the beats that matter.

So much more important than any of the parties, the interminable travel, magazine covers or cash, every great DJ should begin first and foremost, with one goal: to be the most avid collector. Honing down the multitude of records is his task, through unearthing and treasuring music, new and old; almost as a traveler navigating his way through the ocean of new sounds. It&apos;s this constant drive for sonic exploration that&apos;s responsible for Souvenir, the Berlin label spearheaded by the brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz, better known to the world simply as Tiefschwarz.

With over five years in existence, the label has steadily amassed an impressive roster of artists, forming a closely-knit family of upcoming producers around them, as well as working alongside some of the leading figures in contemporary electronic music. It’s also been a home for most of Tiefschwarz’s own output with the young label’s very first release being the single ‘Hey’ back in 2006, recorded under the brother’s Ichundu alias. Since then they’ve had a ten-year celebratory ‘Best Of’ compilation, an album ‘Chocolate’ and their ‘In The City’ label sampler. With a whole host of artists having released singles along the way, including names like Riton, Phonique and Ziggy Kinder, the label has now become home to a steady group of talented young producers, Re.You, Sante, Chris Wood &amp; Meat and Ruede Hagelstein. Ruede himself recently released his debut album, ‘Soft Pack’ alongside his band The Noblettes, an electro-indie sound with an ethereal, downbeat version of his dancefloor anthem ‘Emergency’. In order to foster up and coming talent, Souvenir launched a digital-only label called Souvenirplus, and with plenty already on the cards for 2012 (including perhaps a much anticipated, new Tiefschwarz album), this small label proves exactly why Berlin really is the world capital for contemporary electronic music.
