Built from a couple of seconds nighttime recording; wingbeats and shrieks of flying foxes fighting over fruit on palm tree in backyard.

Brief clips set up as 'drum' hits, and fed into resonant filters and delay for 'bass line'. Mid length clips fed through multiple stages of reverb and pattern driven filters for ambient wrapper - with some bleed back into the bass filters and delay lines. 'Melody' is a mash of the original shrieks, without effects, but layered re-pitched playback.

Disquiet Junto Project 0168: Three of a Kind
Create an original, multi-part piece with a single audio source.

Step 1: You will be making a single track with three different parallel lines. 
It might be easiest to think of them as melody, rhythm, and an ambient foundational bed, but you might also do three counterposed rhythms, 
or a drone of three varying ambient beds. It’s up to you.

Step 2: Select a single source of audio. Perhaps it’s a segment of pre-existing track, or a single note on a favorite instrument, 
or a short recording of you humming or breathing.

Step 3: Transform that single source of audio to produce each of the three separate lines you plotted in Step 1.

Step 4: Record the track with those three lines running simultaneously.

Step 5: Upload your track to the Disquiet Junto group on SoundCloud.

Step 6: Then listen to and comment on tracks uploaded by your fellow Disquiet Junto participants.

Deadline: This assignment was made in the evening, California time, on Thursday, March 19, 2015, with a deadline of 11:59pm wherever you are on Monday, March 23, 2015.

Length: The length of your finished work should be roughly between one and four minutes.

Upload: Please when posting your track on SoundCloud, only upload one track for this assignment, and include a description of your process in planning, composing, and recording it. This description is an essential element of the communicative process inherent in the Disquiet Junto. Photos, video, and lists of equipment are always appreciated.

I've become addicted to drone. Again. I was the kid with his head on the piano, listening to the overtones die away, or pressing his ear to the steel hull of the ferry, enthralled by the sounds it created. I was the kid who formed wordless songs to accompany the sound of train wheels on a long journey, or hummed along with the fan on a hot day.

In the 60s I used to play my 45s on 16, or backwards, or by hand using razor blades as stylii.

I made cut-up tapes on a cheap cassette recorder in the 70s and experimented with reel-to-reel in the 80s.

I am not a musician. I am a scavenger of sounds. I use the most basic software to process those sounds, stretching and filtering until something emerges that makes a joyful noise. Or not...

Le fil du temps se remplit à l'infini d'instants... Mon souhait serait d'habiller ces tout petits moments comme on costume un petit théâtre : les vêtir d'un rien, d'un silence, d'une chaise vide, d'un coussin tendre, d'un son soyeux, d'un plein et d'un délié, du son d'un mouvement du corps en action, d'un geste de la voix, de l'harmonie qui se compose entre tout ça, d'une construction de l'espace objet et de l'espace sonore, d'une composition qui se déploie à la minute qui passe... mon souhait serait d'habiter un moment du présent qui se donne. 

Pour d'écrire mon travail créatif : il se construit sur deux axes de réflexion : le premier prend toujours en considération la relation à autrui, tandis que le second souligne et dénote les gestes qui opèrent alors en corrélation. L'autre être qui peut nous écouter, nous voir, nous sentir, nous parler, nous recevoir, nous montrer, nous donner... et à chaque fois je note, dénote, transcris les gestes, les actions... et finalement les histoires qui se construisent entre nous... pour ce faire mon travail s'appuie sur une production plastique, musicale, écrite, où la performance de l'instant présent livre aux souvenirs des traces aussi précieuses que les objets qui sont échangés. D'une simple conversation du regard, au partage d'une bulle de savon, d'un poème de la vie courante écrit sur les lignes de la main (ou le contraire d'un poème de la main écrit sur les lignes de la vie courante) à une parole en l'air, d'un prospectus à une mise en question taggée, d'un rêve illustré à une réalité décrite, je suis tour à tour Marchand d'idées, Marchand de sables, directeur du musée de la mémoire et de l'oubli, chercheur au centre de découverte des gestes inutiles et des actes sans conséquences, fonctionnaire au centre administratif de la vie par voix thérapeutique, démonstrateur au centre de soin esthétique, acteur avec la compagnie du temps, donneur de voix, prêteur de geste, poète des présents que l'on fait.
